Unfortunately, due to the blurb, I knew what real-life case the book was based on immediately. Although there are a few key differences (such as underlying child abuse and the existence of a second older brother), from the sample, it looks like the book is going to be something of a rehash of that murder. I followed that case with interest since it happened, so I don't know that reading something that close to what I've already seen would be enjoyable. I think I'll be skipping this one. Thanks for the review!

I could not imagine James killing his own sister on Christmas Day. It's sad. I wonder what and why he did such a thing.

A murder story from a murderer's point of view is nicely presented in the book "Christmas Murder" by Betty Schultz, which revolves around James, a 19 year old who killed his little sister on Christmas day. The story appears quite intriguing to me.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

Thank you for the review. This sounds like a super intense read and on a disturbing subject. I agree with you, that children should always be taken seriously.

I like that this story is told by the actual murderer. The subject of child abuse is a touchy subject that needs more attention. I will definitely read this book.

Your review made me look at the cover and honestly, it is beautiful and gives an entirely different vibe to the book. Also, Child abuse should be the most serious crime that there is but we as a society keep on failing our children.

I'm not sure if I have the thick skin to read a book where children suffer but in the real world it happens. Thanks for your review

Thank you for the review. Interesting storyline and point of view. Like you, I also don't like stereotyping and generalization. But maybe the males could take this story to step up their game and prove the point that males are not cut from a single mold. Prove to the world that it is not the norm. Proper awareness about child abuse and how to handle such situations can go a long way.

This sounds like a really brutal Christmas crime novel. Trigger warning--it involves children. It does sound suspenseful. Congrats on the book of the day. Great review.

At first, I thought the book cover was corny... but the more I thought about it, the more it becomes clear that there's just no better cover for this book. It fits. I also love how straightforward it is; it further drives how brutal and gruesome these situations are and puts the focus on the aggressors to come up with a way to prevent them from causing harm again.

This is a great book. Quite interesting the author looked at the-not-the-victim point of view. Congrats on making the book of the day.

I read the book. The storyline focuses on the sexual assault of a little girl. Personally, I would never pick such a book to read because it is triggering. The whole time I read the book, I felt annoyed, digusted and anguished. It was hard to read this book but I managed to finish it. Child abuse in our society is a very common and the awareness of it is not widespread. Most people are so trusting of their family members and strangers and leave their children in their care without taking necessary precautions. Children are very vulnerable and those few years they have as children are the foundation of how they grow up to be.

I like the fact that this book takes into account the murderer's POV and possible reasons for the violent action. This sounds like a disturbing yet pertinent read. Thanks for the insightful review!
