This review mentions the highlights of the story and what stood out while reading it. Through the lens of its protagonists, Rush adeptly delves into themes of self-discovery, camaraderie, and the pursuit of aspirations. Reading this book was a pleasant experience because it was exceptionally edited and flowed smoothly. I only picked up one typographical error.

Nqobile, thank you for the great review. People do not choose the circumstances that they are born into and grow up in. It is amazing to see how some people play the cards they are dealt and how they survive. This sounds like a great story according to your review. I am rooting for Tommy to have better chances in life.

I agree with you that drugs are bad and affect many people's lives negatively. However, I'm keen to read this book to learn about cocaine selling back in the 1970s. I'm looking forward to seeing Tommy's journey.

I can be changed by what happens to me,
but I refuse to be reduced by it.

Character development is something most writers forget to depict and if they do, they forget to focus on the minor details that changed after evolution. I am quite excited to read the novel and find out more about the impressive journey. Also, the title seems to be a perfect fit for the book.

dangers of indulgence in drugs a reality, Tommy being in and out of trouble mentions the highlights of the story and what stood out- storytelling, "Young Americans" is a contemplative and enduring novel that leaves an indelible mark. Rush's narrative talent shines brilliantly, making it and even a crook can be fair

The BOTD features the fast lifestyle of Tommy who chooses to live a life of crime as a drug dealer. Dealing drugs isn't like television shows, the stress and struggle put people in situations that are extremely dangerous.

Having read part of Wild World, I think Peter Rush is a wonderful author. I am just not interested in the drug trade, so I don't think I will read this book. I hope Tommy found the right way eventually.

It sounds like a book that I would enjoy. I've never read a book about a drug dealer's life and I'm sure there are a lot to learn. Tommy seems to be an interesting character and have rather high standards in certain aspects of his life. Thanks for an insightful review.

Experiences greatly influence the development that a person can have. In this case, Tommy had a cruel childhood without any type of moral support from his parents. As soon as he could, he left, looking for a better way out. With his agile mind he entered a criminal trade where scams are the order of the day, and he was very good at it.

Well written review on this book. This is not a book that I would choose to read because of the grim scenes, profanity and violence. But some readers will find a story of a man's journey through a horrific childhood; then a life of drug and crime and how he tries to survive as an adult.

A nightlife drugs and smuggling themed book "Young Americans" by Peter S. Rush, which follows Tommy, a troubled young man who was in his early twenties. The story appear entertaining to me.

It’s unfortunate that Tommy chose such a life due to the lack of support from his parents and other obstacles in life. I hope this book finds the right audience. Congrats on the BOTD!
