Sounds like a great first book in a series. I like that the book is complete without requiring the reader to get to a second book to finish the story. (This actually makes me more likely to pick up the second book.)

I'll take into consideration that this is the first novel, maybe the author will improve character development as he writes more books. I like to see growth in writing skills through a series. It shows that the author cares about their stories and the characters they write about. Thanks for the great review!

"I don’t care for stories where the characters know they are in danger but do nothing about it."
I know exactly what you mean, and I can't stand it either.
As usual, I love the review; it's just the right amount of descriptive. I can picture the novel as a TV series (there are quite a lot of investigative dramas, aren't there?) I'd probably watch. It is worthy of acknowledgement that the author chose a protagonist who suffers from a mental condition, effectively shedding light on mental health issues, and how they affect everyone.
I like how the mobsters have matching names; it's pretty cute.

I agree. I tend to avoid books that hang on a cliffhanger. Thanks for reading my review and commenting!

I think it would make a great TV series. Thanks for your observations and kind comments!

I always like when crime/thriller type books manage to incorporate a meaningful theme in with the story. I like that this novel covers mental illness, although it might be better executed if the characters had a bit more depth. Thanks for a great review!

Character development is the best part of a book for me. Anything without well rounded characters will make me lose interest. Thank you for your review!
