"Murder Among Friends" by Linda J. Burson is an engaging mix of crime thriller and steamy romance. Camille Thurston, a private investigator, aids her brother in searching for missing Paula Clemons while falling for Paula's husband, Grant. Tensions rise with Grant's neighbor, Sherry, and her gossip group. The well-paced novel features witty dialogue and intriguing characters, making it a captivating read. Sounds fascinating! Okay, there's a lot going on in Cammy's life. There's a murder to solve. There's also her love life to figure out. I'd love to see how she deals with all of this.

The plot concentrates around investigating the mystery of a missing woman and an affair between her husband and a "interested" investigator. I like it that this thriller revolves heavily around personal relationships. Appealing. Interesting review. Caution noted.

A blend of romance and crime has to be very good. A mix of these genres never goes wrong. From your review, it's evident this is going to be a very interesting book. Sherry's character seems annoying, but I guess I will have to find out after reading. Great recommendation.

The storyline of "Murder Among Friends" by Linda J Burson looks excellent. However, as the reviewer said, I don't fancy stories involving affairs much, but if it is vital to creating suspense and propelling the story to resolution, that's okay. I hope the mystery about Paula's disappearance was resolved and that Cammy was right in believing in Grant's innocence.

Always a bummer when the total points are deserved but cannot be given due to errors. A next round of editing will hopefully take care of that. I like suspense. I already have a good vibe with the Sunset Lane ladies, I think I will enjoy their contributions.

I don't typically enjoy romance novels that involve affairs, but it was hard not to like the chemistry between Grant and Cammy. I appreciated how the author justified the relationship and her well-thought-out backstories for the characters. I felt like it was easy to emphasize with Grant's and Cammy's plights, so it was easy to cheer on their relationship and hope that everything worked out. The wait was a suspenseful journey because the author did a fantastic job creating tension in their relationship from inner conflict and external pressure, not to mention the ever-looming question of what would happen when they found Paula. It was not immediately clear if she was gone for good or would be coming back despite the outcome implied by the title.

I agree with you. I also have a hard time empathizing with characters who are involved in affairs. The author must have done a great job with the character development! And I love witty dialogue and funny banter.
Thank you for your review.

Well-done review! This feels like a special episode of a Murder, She Wrote/Hallmark mystery-type series with a lot of spice added to amp things up. I’m liking the sound of it! I’ll admit the amount of errors this book has is a bit disappointing. However, if the story is great, I might have it in me to look pass them.
The Sunset Lane ladies, as Cammy refers to them, were intriguing, annoying, and downright crazy, and I loved the contributions they made to the suspect list with their actions and motives. Sometimes I was so shocked by what they said and did, but I enjoyed their Stepford-wives-type vibes.
Stepford Wives vibes, you say? I’m listening…

A romance with well-written complexity and drama?! Sign me right up! I’m officially sold!

Congrats to the author on BOTD!

The blend of crime thriller and romance, with its engaging storyline and well-developed characters like Cammy and Grant, sounds like a captivating read. The witty banter between siblings Zach and Cammy, along with the lively interactions with the Sunset Lane ladies, adds an intriguing layer of drama and humor.

Thank you for the informative review!

“Murder Among Friends” by Linda J Burson has a very catchy title and made me want to know how the story was written. It seems like a great mix of suspense and romance. The characters seem well-developed and the dialogue engaging. I enjoy books written in the present tense, and despite its grammatical errors, it seems like a fun read with a rewarding conclusion.

Congrats #BOTD
