Great review! :tiphat:
Sounds like a book I'd honestly enjoy reading, especially with a strong-willed lead character with struggles to overcome and prove an entire generation flawed in their berating of women in society.

Mallory Whitaker wrote:Ritah, I absolutely love reading your reviews. They're always so insightful and well-said. This sounds like the sort of book I would love to read. I love mystery books. Put that mystery at any point in the past and you've got me. I'm super intrigued by this era/setting because I know so little about it. It sounds brilliantly fascinating. I love reading books with a strong female character as well and it sounds like she fits that bill beautifully. I can't wait to read this!
Hey, Mallory. Thank you so much, I totally appreciate your compliment, even more, cause I too admire the way you write your reviews as well. You write beautifully. It's a good read - hope you enjoy it and I'm sure you'll learn a few things from it.

Thanks. The book cover drew me in, the content made me stay. Hope you'll enjoy the read as much as I did.

I know right! but since the book was meant for young adults, it was lightly touched on, no graphic descriptions. Yea, I absolutely loved that she went after what she wanted despite what society expected/dictated.

Hi Jan I enjoyed it for that very reason + the historical bits.

This looks like it spans genres. I'm always up for a bit of "girl power" in my books and have seen a few on OBC recently that have taken my fancy. I liked your review, very analytical.

Thank you. Yea, this is one of those. History + a little bit of mystery and a determined female protagonist.

I like the book for the positive portrayal of women. The themes discussed are serious and for the protagonist to weave through is impressive. Thanks for a great review.

Nice book book. Sounds like the type women would love. However, I think there some things that I would also benefit from in the book.

This is a book that surpasses gender. Like you said, this is a book you could benefit/ learn from.
