Sounds like a page turner! I’m a fan of crime/psychological thrillers. It sounds like Shane’s journey to find out what happened is right up my alley. Thanks for the review!

This review makes me wanna read this book so bad. Mystery/thriller are my absolute favourite. Very intriguing and I want to be with Shane on her journey and see how good of a detective she is. If the antagonist going to out think her while she fights to unveil the face of the criminal. I'm all up for it. Amazing review.

I enjoyed your review. You’ve described a flawed, yet basically decent and realistic protagonist and the convoluted story sounds fascinating.

Thanks for your review. I love mysteries and am looking forward to reading this one. I prefer characters who recognize their own shortcomings and also ones who are too stubborn to recognize potential missteps. Shane sounds engaging and I look forward to finding out where Flynn is.

Your review is interesting, but you miss out on a major factor - the author is actually a white guy who employs a black woman as his major protagonist. That, on its own, is a relatively novel aspect, and definitely deserves some attention. Pat Muir's empathetic portrayal of the lead character is outstanding in its perceptiveness - added to this, Muir is a more mature person, and yet is able to get inside the mind of a person who is much younger than himself. He is also a self-taught writer, and one coming from a scientific background, rather than a police one, yet he is able to write a book about police procedure. I take off my hat to him. :tiphat:

You know what's exciting about this book? It's when you told us that it is different from it's counterpart. That got me curious. Im excited to read this. Thanks for the wonderful review.

I like the idea of the on-the-fence judgement, she may be correct or may be wrong. Detective is not my genre of interest but the story sounds facilitating. I will keep a check on this book later. Thank you for your review!

I enjoy detective novels and I think this one sounds interesting. The writing style I previewed was easy and enjoyable. I like the idea that there is more to the characters than we initially thought, so we stay in our toes. Thank you for a great review

You did a great job of explaining the good points and the bad. This is not my favorite genre and if the story starts out slow I won't be likely to get into this one. Great review though.

I appreciate your insightful review. I love a good mystery. However, if the story doesn’t grab me right away, I lose interest quickly. I appreciate the warning that the story takes some time to develop, but is worth the wait.

Great review. I love a good mystery and crime thrillers are among some of my favorites. I enjoy the procedural detective work in most of these novels and I love being kept guessing. I’ll definitely be checking this intriguing sounding novel out. Thanks so much for sharing.

A detective story with murder investigation, murder mystery, money launderers, unexpected outcome, a strong female intelligent detective and idealist, prejudice in her decision-making process gives an insight on the process that take place in various departments, their hierarchy order, how these departments collaborate to solve cases...... Nice one. I love detective novels. I definitely want to read this book. Thanks for the review.
