Hahaha, sometimes, things are not what they appear... I'm glad you're willing to still check out the book even though you'll skip some pages... A small price to pay in my opinion... Thanks for reading!

Thanks for your generous input as well. Like you, I didn't fancy the gory details... Except for the part where The Alter was rescuing his daughter anyway...that was justified justice :lol2: Still..good book.

The book cover looks quite scary, but as you described James and the others of their special abilities, comparing them to The Hulk and The X-men, it may not be so scary. It sounds like there are a lot of characters that the author introduces clearly. You also gave a good introduction to the characters.
Thanks for your kind words. You're right, it isn't really as scary as it looks. I did enjoy the gradual addition of characters without any form of confusing clashes between 'em. It was smooth sailing all the way.

Thank you for your sophisticated yet succinct review. My family is quite into those superhero series you've mentioned. This piece might even be connected with the "Altered Carbon" flick I've watched earlier this year. My shelf has been growing out of acceptable proportions now, yet I might even consider gracing it with this one.

Thanks for buying out the time to share your thoughts. Now I've learned something new today: gorn. Had to look it up

Sahani Nimandra wrote: 23 Aug 2018, 21:31 Thank you for your descriptive review! I have a question to ask! When u compare this read to Marvals and DC comics I believe it belongs to sci-fiction genre why did you put it to C/H/T/M genre?
Good question. For one thing, the genre in which comics or superhero stories fall under depends on the “hero” and the setting. These movies are mostly action but their genres may also overlap into the science fiction, fantasy, horror, martial arts, crime, and other categories. I would think of Altered Reality more in the line of fantasy than even sci-fi, but for the fact that the book employs a modern-day setting, with near-palpable suspense, mystery and thrilling aspects, the author chose the nearest genre in OBC to it which happened to be C/T/M/H.

Such humbling expressions, thanks a ton. I haven't seen Altered Carbon; I'll probably want to check it out, alongside anything that has "Altered" in it :lol2: Do share your thoughts if you get around to reading this book. I'd love to hear what you think. Thanks again!

I hadn't been planning on reading this book as I didn't seem to keen on it based on just the little blurb about the book, but your review has actually changed my mind! I love when a book can clearly and cleanly introduce new characters and make it easy for them to stay separate in your mind. It seems like a pretty interesting read with a well thought out plot. Thanks very much for a great review!

I'm a fan of Avengers, X-men, Justice League and the superheroes. Thanks for the warm welcome. (giggles)

Perhaps, I'll enjoy reading this book as I enjoyed watching those superheroes on screen.

Thanks for the great review. (wink)

Very well detailed review. I would have liked to read this book, but I have more flair for reality. It's a good read though.

Sounds like an interesting story. However, 'the gory details dished out in various styles,' make me hesitant in picking up the book.

Great review!
