Lately I have been reading Brad Meltzer. He is more of political conspiracies, but his stories are fast paced and have you guessing to the end. I really enjoy is characters because they are always so normal it makes you think of the possibilities of these stories happening to an average person.

I second Tess Gerritsen, but my all time favourite is Harlan Coben.

I like to read Jeffery Deaver. His Lincoln Rhyme novels are great.

I recently discovered a new author. Name is William Landay. His first book "Mission Flats" was very good. I'm about halfway done with his second book "The Strangler". Not quite as good as the first, but I am enjoying it. On 1/31/12, his third book "Defending Jacob" will be released. I have it on pre-order and am looking forward to it.

Dennis LeHane, J. A. Konrath, Michael Connolly. I'm sure I have some other favorites but those come to mind immediately.

I thought 'current favorite' referred to general public, whereas you cite your favorites, as it seems. Aren't the authors like, say, Iain Banks, Ian Ranking, Robert Goddard, Ruth Rendell, Brigitte Auber most popular now?

Not a huge crime fan. I do like the 'Tony Hill/Carol Jordan' crime stories by Val McDermid but I don't think you can beat a good Agatha Christie, bless her!

Jo Nesbø is a Norwegian author who writes great crime thrillers featuring Harry Hole, a troubled detective (and 'troubled' is putting it mildly). I really enjoy his work. Dark and gritty.

The Lock Artist sounds like a good book to add to my list! My husband would probably also like that book.
