I got spooked from the moment Tori entered the apartment and saw the mirrors. The author did a fine job of creating imagery in the minds of readers; it seemed like I stepped into the apartment with Tori.
What I like most about this book is the author's diction and expressions; for example: "Their mouths gaped in frozen roars of silence..." I savored the sheer beauty of that oxymoronic expression.

Beautiful review!

I've only read a sample of this book so far, but am already impressed! The description at the beginning of the book, of all of the mirrors situated throughout the home while walking through it, and the feeling that someone or something was watching, was enough to give me chills. This was further reinforced by the description of all of the police officers, huddled together in one room, and looking about as if they were in fear of something.

If this introduction to the book is any indication of what follows, then it should be a book well worth reading.

I like the review that you wrote about this book that has quite a story that would keep any reader at the edge of their proverbially seats. I also like that the main character was a fan of antiques and history which makes this a character that I myself can easily relate to. I also am interested in the paranormal and what lies beyond death.

Ah, therein lies the rub for me. This sounds like an interesting book, but I will pass. Thank you for your thorough review!

:techie-studyinggray: Based on the sample and review, this book seemed to contain a cliche plot. However the review rated it at a very high quality therefore I think readers who fancy this genre will derive joy from reading this one.

This seems like a suspense thriller book with an amazing storyline. Who could have been responsible for the disappearance Tori's renter? I hope to learn about this. Congrats on Botd.

Paranormal stories are not my thing so I'm going to pass but thank you for a thorough review!

I wonder what would happen if I found out my tenant had done this. Tori gets involved in a heated saga. I like the plot, it sure sounds like a page turner. Thanks for the review.

I like how detailed and insightful your review! It is sufficient enough to give me an overview of the book and if I will want to read the title or not. Congratulations on having this book that you reviewed BOTD!

A good review and a good endorsement for the book. While not going deeply and cited only a few specific details to back it all up, it did give enough reasons for a good and credible endorsement. Perhaps overused, but I, and a lot I believe, would find it both hard and pleasing to be immersed in deciding if a story is supernatural or not. While the review pointed out that the characters are not deep, but realistic and interesting, to me this would all the more make it a story easy to understand, relate to, and enjoy.

This book is ideal for readers who enjoy horror and mystery novels. The writing is very descriptive and Townsend manages to make the reader feel as though he/she is right there in the "haunted house" with the Tori and Hal (two of the main characters).

Indeed, this book has a lot of twists and turns and I can hardly wait to see how it ends. Is it really a case of a ghost wreaking havoc, or a murderer clever enough to pass himself off as a ghost? Only time will tell.

There are brief moments of romance between the characters in this book but the emphasis is truly on the investigation that goes on to find a missing Scott.
