This book sounds unique and it brings some themes that aren't very common in books. However, I'm not interested in basketball or in politics, so I think I'll pass it. Congrats on BOTD to the author! Thanks for the informative review!

I have read a couple of books by June Gillam, and I have to say that I enjoyed them! However, this one seems a bit different. I live very close to where the Stoneman Douglas school shooting happened; I am only 15 minutes away. I also do not agree with many of the ideas already mentioned. Because of this, I will be skipping the book. Nonetheless, congrats to the author on BOTD! :)

Thank you for your interesting review. While I enjoyed the sample, I agree it was a little slow. I don't believe it is for me, at least at this time. So far it seemed that one could understand it without reading the orber books first.

In House of Hoops, the author seems to have addressed many social problems in this fictitious story, and the setting is quite relevant.

A nice fiction story set in Sacramento, California, in 2019, which is based on real events is nicely presented in the book "House of Hoops" by June Gillam. The story is dedicated to Gianna Bryant and her legendary father, Kobe. The suspenseful story has references to mass shootings, protests, and Black Lives Matter. All this factors makes it intriguing to read.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

This sounds like a really well-written and thought-provoking book. It's very relevant as well and I'm sure the parts referencing Kobe Bryant and his daughter are very interesting to read about as well. Great review!

Basketball is my favorite sport. I wondered if this book would have any women’s basketball in it, and when I saw that the caption for the first chapter was the WNBA inaugural slogan, I was hooked. I look forward to reading my first Hillary Broome novel. Thank you for a lovely review!

I am hesitant to read this #BOTD because I do not endorse Black Lives Matter due to the senseless violence in the past two years. Good review though.

At the core of this story is basketball but it also tackles many social issues such as gentrification, BLM, mass shootings and many others. This makes this book an interesting read. I would love to sample it.
