I think this book naturally appeals to people who love politics and action so I will skip this one. Although I'm tempted to see how Ruslan is a unifying factor of the tribes at conflict. Thank you for your splendid review.

Thank you for sharing your review with us. I read the sample pages of this book and it’s starts off with quite a violent scene. I am currently looking for a more upbeat read, so I think I will pass on this book for now.

This sounds like a very engaging thriller charged with politics. I do love how there is a little humor intertwined. Congrats on the book of the day. Great review.

I am not familiar with the series. This is a second book in the series. However, the setting in Russia, the struggles people go through there and how they overcome their problems seems to make it an interesting reading. I am curious to find this out.

The book seems amazing and also the fact that the book is a standalone one in the series. Usually, I don't prefer such a genre but this book seems interesting. I loved the way you started your review, it captured me. Thanks for your review.

Ruslan seems to be caught in a web of indecision. I'll see what he finally did eventually. Congratulations!

When the world will be without war and struggles for political dominance, what a time it will be to be alive! I look forward to that time. I'm not a fan of war/political books, though, so I'll pass. Thanks for the review.

In as much as I like stories with multiple tribal backgrounds, I don't really enjoy political literature. Nice review though.

The hype around this book has been unquestionable and, admittedly, that made me both eager to get my hands on it and terrified to read it. I mean, what if I was to be the one person that didn’t love it as much as others? (That seems silly now because of how truly mesmerizing THUG was in the most heartbreakingly realistic way.) However, with the relevancy of its summary in regards to the unjust predicaments POC currently face in the US, I knew this one was a must-read, so I was ready to set my fears aside and dive in. That said, I had an altogether more personal, ulterior motive for wanting to read this book. […]

A lot has changed since Ruslan and his wife, Tamara, moved to England. Home, as they know it, is on the brink of collapse after the annulment of communism. The Ksords and Akhtarians are at each other's throats in a quest to establish dominance. Ruslan, one of the unifying factors between both tribes, is tasked with mending the rift. Caught between self-serving politicians and a duplicitous teammate, he has to choose between his duty to his people and self-preservation.

A Long Night of Chaos by Paul Clark is the second book in the Ruslan Shanidza series. But it also works as a standalone read. Set in post- Soviet Union Ksordia-Akhtaria, Paul melds themes of conflict, loss, and love in this politically charged thriller that arrests the reader's attention from the first page. The ending is a bit of a cliffhanger, but it ties up the plot nicely with just the right amount of suspense to whet the reader's appetite for the next book.

Coming from a multi-tribal country with the major ethnic groups lording over the minor tribes, I could relate to the book's plot. Paul did a superb job of conveying the undercurrent of resentment and distrust that lay in the associations of the Ksords and Akhtarians.

Choosing between preservation of family and staying in a country that is on the brink of communism is probably not a difficult a choice unless one believes they can stay and make a difference. Stopping communism should be his goal but if he needs to save his family then he needs to make this choice. Good official review.

This politically-charged series seems to be written in an enganging style and to feature complex characters like Ruslan and Leila. I'd like to give it a try. Thanks for your review!

One thing that overwhelms me in a book, and subsequently reduces my overall appreciation is when am author employs a myriad of characters. Regardless, this book explored interesting topics. Congratulations on the book of the day.
