I love a good psychological look at characters and what leads some of them down the path to being “evil”—or to just thinking that they are. Such works often make great socio-politico-cultural commentary on the world we’re living in. Thank you for the helpful review.

Juan had a really bad background. But I'd love to find out if he overcame the evil or became a bad man as he thought he was.

Thank you for your great review. I'm so glad you enjoyed the book so much. The writer can certainly grab you into the story and hold you there. It sounds like the story has wonderful characters. I will have to consider whether or not I want to read this book. While I did like the sample, I'm unsure due to the language, drugs, and sexuality in it. Sometimes the story is so good even with those things, and other times it seems the author used them just to make it more "grown up".

It's disturbing to read about the harsh realities of negative environmental influences on mankind, especially on growing-up children. Juan is just a victim of circumstance; broken and ravaged by such negative energies as drug and teenage sex. I admire the author's careful word choices while tackling the sexual contents in this novel.

I just can't wait to read the rest of the book, as the sample was very engaging from the word go!!! I would love to see how Juan develops after such a terrible childhood and what choices will he make with regards to his future. Thanks for a excellent review.

This novel shows how children end up growing into the dark world of drug trafficking. In as much as we claim that it is because of nature. This book reveals otherwise by portraying the life and circumstances that results in one becoming a part of drug crime.

"The Making of Evil" by C. Ross Dutton is a story about a boy named Juan who grew up surrounded by nothing but hunger, alcohol, sex, poverty and a very irresponsible mother. This negative environment causes Juan to grow into a man without enjoying a normal childhood. Juan takes responsibility for his siblings and displays maturity for his age. Juan assures himself that he has become a bad man. The author showcases Juan's growth as evil and Juan embraces his destiny and will not apologize for his life choices. The book also includes drugs, human trafficking, weaponry based on the author's vocabulary and the setting in Columbia. Strange book but good review.

The Making of Evil
An account from the Christian faith through sister Emma. The stresses placed on people of AOD influence, one being a 13 year old girl who eventually decides that getting paid on the street for sex is a good deal.
This is not my choice of book where the theme revolves around being like Jesus whom although he tries to be good, forgiving and empathises with the plights of others is crucified on the cross. It is about struggles.

The review reveals the insight of the book. It's sad to read what Juan and his siblings had to face in their childhood. I am interested in reading the book. Thanks for the review.

Juan grow up in the midst of so many vices which made him turn out to be a product of evil. I'm glad to note that the character of Juan was well developed both mentally and emotionally. Congratulations on BOTD.

The term "bildungsroman" appears severally in the review, though the reviewer fails to elucidate, neither in definition nor in context. But the review does keep with the reviewer's perspective that this is a worthwhile read about challenges, though it is a fictional piece.

Thanks for the review that discussed the social responsibility and awareness about the gruesome drug crimes. Drug syndicates find poverty stricken communities as their helpless victims and cohorts. Innocent minds with great potentials are torn apart between their ideals and their grim bloody stinking drugged ghettos.
The Making of Evil is a must read for world leaders to realize the urgent need to resolve the SAD CYCLE of POVERTY《》DRUGS《》CRIMES.

The book is a psychological thriller about a boy called Juan. It's quite unfortunate that he had such poor upbringing. I would like to know what became of Juan. Congratulations on BOTD.

The making of evil is a well written and insightful novel. Juan is shown as an impressionable young man. Other characters such as his mother, Emilia and Sister Emma are developed to create some form support and interest for Juan. The concept of evil is a bit blurred in the mind of Juan with grave consequences. Thanks for your review.

The title was a complete turn off. Juan's challenging childhood as outlined in the sampled pages brought some context to the title. The reviewer did an awesome job of summarizing this novel. Initially I thought that this was a horror thriller, however as it turns out, it is in fact a novel that depicts how one can become a victim of their circumstances. It is not a personal favorite but certainly sounds like a good read. A great selection for today BoTD!
