My goodness! Just reading about the book has got my heart racing 😅
I love a well-written book and I can see this is a good one. I also love the concept of making painting with ashes from the dead; that's some creative thinking, though I wouldn't want to engage in that. Now I'm thinking if I can be classified as faint-hearted or not. I love thrillers, but to a limit.
Thank you for the review.

"Brush with Death" by Jody Summers is the first book in the 'Art of the Dead' series, and it's a gripping thriller set in New Orleans. The story follows Kira, a painter mourning her mother's death. She creates a painting using her mother's ashes, discovering an unusual talent that allows her to relive the deceased's significant moments. Her new business, 'Canvas of Life,' brings peace to clients but takes a sinister turn when she meets Sean and paints his father's portrait. Kira's visions and nightmares reveal his father might have been a serial killer, and the painting's evil threatens her life.

This is not the type of book I normally read, but "A Brush with Death" by Jody Summers is about a close experience with danger. The protagonist narrowly escapes a life-threatening circumstance that emphasizes the fragility of life. The story serves as a sharp lesson to cherish every moment and embrace the gift of life.

A thriller that combines artistic elements with paranormal activity. Mixing paint with other non artistic stuff is an art done by lots of artists to get a more unique result, but mixing it with the ashes of the dead? Chilling. I’m sad the main couple of characters’ relationship is not likable, but thanks for highlighting it in your review!

A Brush with Death" by Jody Summers is a gripping and suspenseful novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The story follows the life of Kira, a talented artist who finds herself caught up in a series of mysterious and unsettling events.

The author does an excellent job of building tension and creating a sense of unease throughout the narrative. The characters are well-developed and relatable, and the plot is full of twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end.

One of the standout aspects of this book is the way the author weaves themes of art, mortality, and the human condition into the story. The descriptions of the protagonist's artistic process are both beautiful and haunting, and the exploration of the dark aspects of the human psyche is both thought-provoking and unsettling.

Overall, "A Brush with Death" is a compelling and well-written thriller that will leave a lasting impression on the reader. I highly recommend this book to fans of suspenseful fiction and anyone who enjoys a good mystery.

It would indeed sound and appear weird if Kira and Sean like each other in a manner that does not seem normal. Still, the plot is really unique and I like the fact that the story moves at a nice pace and the author employs foreshadowing to keep the reader engrossed in the book.
Many thanks for the amazing review. :tiphat: :tiphat: :tiphat:

I am usually not a lover of fantasy series, but wow is this interesting! First and foremost, the idea of painting with ashes is amazing, plus the flashbacks make it even more intriguing. This book reminds me of The Originals series. I would love to read it!

I'm really excited to read this book. It'll definitely be thrilling – I love horror books, and I really like that this book reminds you of Stephen King. It's a shame that the romance wasn't very good, but the plot itself sounds very intriguing. I can't wait to read about her paintings and how they affect her. The author's vivid imagery is what I'm looking forward to the most. Thank you for the review and introducing me to this series.

The book offers a unique perspective on themes of life, death, and the afterlife, as well as the impact of grief and the search for closure, which makes it an interesting read. Congratulations on #BOTD!

"A Brush with Death" by Jody Summers is the first in the 'Art of the Dead' series, a thrilling story about Kira, a New Orleans painter who uses her mother’s ashes to create art, leading to a business called 'Canvas of Life.' Her art helps clients find peace but brings terrifying visions when she paints a serial killer’s life. Adding it to my reading list.
