I like the time period this book is set in, and the historical facts sound intriguing. I read the first few pages today, and then your review which has convinced me to give this one a go. The author’s writing drew me in, and I don’t read a lot of fiction. Thanks for the great review which helped solidify my decision to read this one.

I'm not usually one for crime thrillers, but I do love historical fiction and this book sounds like it presents an interesting interpretation of a tumultuous point in world history. Between that and a strong, witty female lead selling it for me, I think I will definitely have to read this book in full in the future!

I like the title, very aggressive and captures immediate interest. The review was very clear which adds up to the interest and excitement to read the book. The summary was concise and did not give any spoilers but instead tickled the fantasy and encouraged the reading of the book. The plot is very fresh and looks very engaging and action-packed. Now with these features in a novel, who woud hesitate lying in bed, with hot coffee and muffin waiting beside it and start experience the seemingly wonderful novel. Do it! Let's savor the amazing journey in reading a precious work of the mind! Congrats!

This sounds like a great book and I can already imagine some of the scenes as if they were a movie. I like that it has historical time periods and events providing a nice contrast to this fictional story. I also like that there is a strong female lead who becomes a savvy reporter. The fleeing to Europe in order to escape the Chicago mafia offers a glimpse into the dynamics of the mob and how they controlled the city.

This book sounds like something I might read. The historical part interests me. Abby would be a character I would want to know more about.

This has to be one of the best and well-written books I've read in awhile. The historical events add to the realism of what happens to Abby and her friends.

I appreciate the solidity of Abby's strong female character. I like the fast pace of the events. I can agree with the reviewer point of view and commend them on such a well-written review.

I love a good historical fiction which accurately portrays as characters in the time period. From the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, the Al Capone Trials, the Stock Market Crash, and the social climate in Germany during the rise and fall of Adolf Hitler, it sounds like this one hits on key moments in humanity's past.

:techie-studyingbrown: I just started reading the book, but I really think the writing style is shallow. The author rushes in describing, it's a dry naration of actions one after another without providing any detail. I hope that improves by the end of the book, because it seems an interesting topic. :techie-studyingbrown:

Reading the blurb for this book the author had me hooked when I read that the "survivors were trying to escape the long arm of the mafia." I was like...tell me more!! Then throw in a war is brewing and I could tell that things were about to get intense! Your review helps seal the deal for me reading this book! It sounds like an exciting novel and I do love historical fiction! Looking forward to reading this book!

Thank you for the review. While this thriller sounds quite complete and it seems that it has a strong female lead, I get the impression at first glance that the author crammed too many historical events into the main plot of this story. Still, maybe I'll give it an opportunity.

A strong female protagonist and a resolute ending seem like a winning combination. Thanks for the in-depth review.
