This sounds like such an excellent, well-written book that really captures the horrors of war and how it doesn't just end for a soldier when he/she comes back home. Stories written so well that you forget it's even fiction are pretty rare these days so I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. Great review!

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting crime thriller following a Vietnam Veteran, who had smuggled $1 Million dollars worth of drugs, and the officers pursuing him. It looks to be worth a second look. Well done.

Interesting... sounds like there's a lot going on in this book. I'm curious to see how it all fits together, plus after reading your disclaimer about the soldiers I'm interested to see how the perspective of the author is represented within the pages.

Many Vietnam veterans were left with 'demons' which follow them throughout life. Declan has found a unique way of dealing with them. I think his life of riding the rails, although it isn't for everyone, is understandable. How can he impose his demons on others (i.e., a family) when he cannot conquer them himself? Beautifully written review, thanks!

Army veterans are allowed out there with some of them stuck in the war times .The backlashes of war stays with those who are involved forever. Now why would smuggling illegal drugs not have a price to pay. I love the review , makes the story very interesting. Congrats on being book of the day.

I am sure that getting involved with drugs is far from the peaceful lifestyle that the main character desires. I wonder what will become of Declan? Congratulations to the author on BOTD! :)
