Devil Among Us is a thrilling, action-packed thriller by Jack Winnick, the second novel in the Lara and Uri Series. The story begins with a bombing incident in New York City synagogue, resulting in a massive loss of lives. The FBI is called in to investigate, and FBI Special Agent Lara Edmomd and Mossad agent Uri Levin work together to unravel the terrorist plot. Initially, the investigation focuses on some members of the synagogue, but after following several leads to Texas, they suspect Islamic terrorists have entered the country and the "Brooklyn bombing" might have global implications.

As the mystery unfolds, more questions arise, such as whether this is a giant plot to prevent the United States from aiding Israel, why Iran has a long-range missile aimed at Tel Aviv, and how this all relates to the New York synagogue bombing. Lara and Uri must connect the dots and figure out who is behind these sinister events.

The narrative shifts perspectives, providing an omniscient point of view and a dynamic, well-rounded narrative. The skillful integration of flashbacks and the varied, defined, and realistic characters add to the story's complexity. The author's expertise in the Middle East and the geopolitical relationships between the United States and Middle Eastern countries is evident, with his comparison to World War II events demonstrating a vast knowledge of historical power struggles and prejudices worldwide.

The book is an intense international thriller with a fast pace, filled with bombings, violent fights, missile attacks, and terrorist kidnappings. The main characters, Lara and Uri, are a strong, smart, and funny team that works well together, communicating without even speaking. Their rekindling relationship is a highlight of the book, providing a bright spot in an otherwise dark and dangerous thriller.

The book is rated 4 out of 4 stars, with minimal errors and minor profanity. However, violent and graphic fight scenes make it inappropriate for young readers, and it is recommended for mature readers who appreciate page-turning, suspenseful intrigue.

I’m looking forward to digging into this to be with Uri and Lara as they pursue the terrorists and prevent further massive damages and death after the bombing of a synagogue which killed many innocents.

I find that Father Alvarez makes for an excellent main character, in that he is a man of faith who has to question his beliefs at the very time when they are sorely needed to fight the evil that lurks everywhere about him.Congrats on #BOTD
