Thank you for your review. While I am not normally a biography person, I am interested in this book. Kudos to the author for bringing to light a taboo topic. I can't wait to read it! :techie-studyinggray:

Poverty can drive women to prostitution. The quick buck lures them; sometimes, the hookers get hooked and can't stop. "Just this last time" could be a regular thought. But even working girls need respect. Leila's story is all too common, and yet, it always pains me to see women treated so badly. Yes, even the "bad" girls.

This is gonna be an intense read to me. I have never read a book like this before but I can't help my curiosity on the fictional prostitution lifestyle yet based on true story.

The Sex Tourist by Olivia Wild relates a story of  a sex worker, Lily, who falls in love with a British guy, and (her twin) Vivian's quest through three continents to track down Lily's killer. It has underlying themes of sex, love, abuse, and sisterhood.

Your review has piqued my interest. I can't wait to start reading this book.

The Sex Tourist
gives a completely honest insight
on the prostitution industry and all
that it entails. It is all about a damsel becoming a whoredom just because of her boyfriend even though she lost her life at the end.

I wonder how the book paints prostitution as a subject itself. Does the book go into the details of what Lilian feels about the situation she is in? Does the book show her undergoing feelings of humiliation and guilt, or is it glossed over by just details of her sexual encounters and her attraction towards the easy money? Moreover, the fact that Vivian put herself on the same website, albeit for pretending to be her sister and catching the murderer, also brings to mind the question: is it that easy to align with a profession one does not agree with for noble reasons? I wonder how her moral compass would have clashed with what she was required to do to uncover the truth.

The explicit sex scenes may not appeal to a lot of people, but I don't have any problem with it. The story is also really captivating. Hopefully, Vivian gets the justice she seeks. Amazing review.

The Sex Tourist is an intense fiction novel, written by Olivia Wild and published in May of 2016. While the novel is listed as a work of fiction, it is based on the true story of sex tourism in Eastern Europe. In a biography of the author, it is said that the novel is written based on true events in her own life. Due to the presence of extremely explicit sexual content, I have to recommend the book to only mature readers. The Sex Tourist gives a completely honest insight on the prostitution industry and all that it entails. The author does a fantastic job of pulling the reader in, while holding a grasp for the whole way through. The novel portrays the story as told in two parts: the first by Lilian Biro, the second by Vivian Biro- twin sisters with a bond unlike no other.
This two author technique is very interesting. A unique way to address this issue. However, this topic is not for me.

Thanks for your review.

This book is actually fantastic to read, I can read and re-read it. From the introductions; the prologue to the first book; the sweet (about) sixteen then to, stripping to it's climax more stripping. This book turns out to be more interesting on each flip of the page. Thus ,alot of suspense and curiosity is instilled to the reader.

I'd love to read about sex trafficking, but alas, my stomach can't really handle it. From reading the review, it sounds like the author researched the topic really well, so I guess people who can handle these themes will enjoy reading.

Thank you for your honest review. I feel the same way! While well-written and captivating, it's very difficult to come to terms with this being very close to reality. My heart goes out to all the victims of prostitution.

Thank you for that interesting and in-depth review. Although there was something interesting about this book when I read the brief summary on Amazon and a few of the pages after downloading the book, I did not get excited about reading this one until I read your review. There is so much more to this story that I did not get from the synopsis on Amazon and I would have probably taken my time to read. You mentioned the strong sexual content in the book, which probably would not hinder me from reading, and I think that sometimes brutal depiction of a situation brings readers closer to understanding the events involved. I think I will enjoy the writing style of the author and appreciate how the layout of the book reflects two different parts. I also understand what you mean about understanding how hard it is to enjoy something even though it involves the pain of another. I do not look forward to the hurt that lies inside the book but I hope to gain a deeper understanding of what the author endured.

Thanks for the review. After reading the free sample of this book as well as the author's explanation at the beginning, I was torn. But I will give it a try.
