This sounds captivating. I like the fact that the story is narrated from different perspectives and comprises many themes. Congratulations to the author on BOTD.

I'd like to read the intrigues of political power in this fast moving story. Thanks for the insightful review.

For lovers of the action/thriller genre, especially those that enjoy an entertaining military story, you will be right at home with this one. I loved that the action kept coming, the plot moved quickly, and that there was just enough intrigue to keep me engaged. Besides the action, since the book took place in 2003, I liked the nod to the present day. For example, Commander Edwards had to learn how to use and operate some sort of newfangled piece of technology called a smartphone. What I enjoyed the most about the book was the attention to detail. It shows the author did his homework when it comes to the Coast Guard and their equipment. Between the classes of ships, the firepower on board, and even the command structure of the organization, the writing was spot on.
This kind of winks to the readers of the future often bring much-needed humor to high-stakes plots.
There was only one minor point that I didn't like about the book. What I disliked the most was how Hendrickson lays everything out in the open for the reader. When following the perspectives of the "bad guys", the reader is exposed to every detail of their plan. Although there is nothing technically wrong with this, I prefer to have a bit more mystery in my novels and enjoy a gradual and deliberate release of details.
It's very hard to pull off a thriller when the reader knows everything. I've seen very few authors achieve it.
Thank you for your analytical review.

Nice review. I totally agree about not having the entire plot revealed. I think it’s much more dramatic to leave some mystery.

It must be great for some people who lived at peaceful place and love military forces. This one make my mental health worsening because I lived in Myanmar the country which under control by terrorist military forces and people self being terrorist for them. The oil production firm are the military forces biggest income business. So, they are alot like gangs.

I had to chuckle when I read that the commander fumbled with a smartphone. An expert on deadly weapons scratching his head over an innocent gadget is totally realistic.

The book cover itself stirs so much expectations within me. I am fully prepared for a thriller and action book. The character Commander Edwards sounds special and qualified for his position. I'd love to read this book for more.

The review is correct about who would like this book or not. I'm not interested in military but still curious about what is in this book, which I got satisfied by the review. I like it how its story is related to authentic attacks of 9/11 making me curious and want to google about them. Good review!

Realistic review about military officers strategic maneuvers. The reviewer dissents the detailed recount of the villains' plans and misadventures. Its not all bed of roses for starred commanders. An action packed book that will wreck havoc on a sleepless night weekend.
