Books like this are really good for children since it can show them the joy of reading. And since it is a mystery, children can get well entertained. Having a simple way of describing the story so they can understand it easily is great.

In addition to thirteen-year-old Pickles McGillicuddy and her lifelong friend, Deardra Garcia, the town is filled with many other memorable characters. Among them, Mrs. Abney is the one who reported that her ruby earring was missing. As the affluent wife of a banker, she is presumed to be snobby, but Mrs. Abney is actually a sweet older lady. Then there’s Ms. Emma Louise, the neighborhood snoop. She always seems to know the news on the street before anyone else does. Mr. Giovanni runs the market across from Mr. Broughton’s ice cream shop. Both men are kind and generous to their regular customers, and they seem to have a soft spot for the children. Of course, I can’t forget to mention Buster and Rosie, Pickles’ faithful hounds. Deardra also has a curious pup named Tuck. The dogs always tag along with the girls on their adventures.
That's one quirky and cute cast of characters!
I was overwhelmed with feelings of nostalgia as I read this book. The story seemed to be set in the 1980s or 1990s because recent technology was not mentioned in the plot. It reminded me of The New Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley series. I liked that nuclear family dynamics were featured in this book. I also appreciated that the story encouraged a love of reading by referencing famous literary works, such as “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. There was a lot of great historical information in the text.
I'm feeling a little old where the time of me growing up is now seen as nostalgia-inducing, LOL. But I get what you mean, and it's nice that young readers get to experience those values through literature.
Thank you for your review!

Growing up in the 70s and 80s, my favorite book series was Nancy Drew Mysteries. Each week I couldn’t wait to visit the school library so I could check out a new Nancy Drew book. Great review! Now, I have a new book to read. This book will be added to my bookshelf. However, I do agree with you, the title is pretty long.

This looks like a cute little mystery for young readers between the ages of 7 to 11 years. The character of Jennifer, aka sweet pickles, is easy for young children to relate with. It reminded me of a couple of book series' that I enjoyed as a child. Thanks for a good review on this novel.

This is a wholesome fiction book geared towards kids because it has a sweet mystery involving the search of missing earrings. It's very nostalgic as it reminds me of books read during elementary school. Congrats on the BOTD!

I enjoy children's stories with mystery and sleuthing. I also liked that it is set in a small town, and if it really was set in the 80s or 90s as the review suggests, it would be an added bonus. I enjoy reading books by Enid Blyton as a child, so I'm sure I'll enjoy this one as well.

I do agree with you that The name of the book is long. Especially since it's a children's book, it should be something easy for them to remember. Sounds like a nice book overall though.

Good review and what I liked most about the book was the fact that we it reminded me of how small towns use to be like where everyone knew everyone and used to take care of each other really well beautiful story.
