Sounds like a good thriller with the bonus of being "an emotionally charged story". It is great that the author "successfully handles the delicate and deeply entrenched issue of racial prejudice". Good job on the review!

Thanks for the thoughtful review. I'm glad to hear about the focus on the relationship between the two women officers; I think that's a unique and key aspect I'd like to see explored more.

Thanks for the review of Open Season by Maryann Miller. At least we could shout about it in our individual cell. Hopefully, the characters will iron it out themselves. Interesting review. I'd like to read the book.

The book sounds like it is more about racial issues than murder. I like the dual female partner concept, that is forward thinking. Your review was nicely done. :)

Police procedurals aren't really my thing, but the characters sound interesting.

It is rare to have two female detectives as protagonists. I find it intriguing. This sounds like a good one. Great review!

Thank you for the review. It seems that the author did a great job of intertwining the complexities of 2 different racial issues into one great crime novel.

Thanks for the review. I wish I could write a novel about current popular issues that intrigues and stimulates like this book does. Congratulations to the review and the author.

Nice, insightful review! The plot sounds like it has an interesting mix of themes, with two women police officers, overcoming personal tragedies, and racial issues. Congrats to the author on having the Book of the Day and receiving a positive review!

The review is insightful. After reading the review I sampled the book. I've added it to my reading list. I like the author's style and herway of visualising the subject's emotions.

This book seems really relevant to what's happening today what with the racial tension surrounding a police-involved shooting. You did a great job with the review. Now I'm curious about how the book handles the challenge the author has set herself.
