A murder mystery that takes place during the 1930s sounds great! I love mysteries that take place during that time period. I also love books that mix genres. I am glad you enjoyed the book despite the stereotypical characters, the predictable plot, and the negative portrayal of lesbians. I will give this book a try, as I love the genre. Thank you for the review!

This sounds like an interesting premise for a book and Henrietta sounds like a strong female lead. I like that part of her job entails her going undercover as a lure to find the suspect. I hope her family life is as equally detailed as the murder of her friend. Like you, I don't think I would agree with how the writer has portrayed homosexuality. Thanks for the wonderful review!

I love historical fiction as I am very interested to read about different eras. The fact that this is a Romance too, with crime and suspense is a big plus. Thank you for your review.

I love the idea of the book. However, the easily guessable plot makes me rethink reading it. All in all, you did a great job of reviewing the book!

Do you like disagreement I am with your review, you said you enjoyed her writing style… I didn’t like when Michelle Cox had to describe a 14-year-old girls ample breast I found it unnecessary and she could’ve gotten her point across another way. Thanks for the great review!

Historical mysteries are such a great way to learn about history. I'm always interested to learn more about American history. I've heard stories from my great grandmother about the Great Depression era but all those stories were in the rural South, and I've not read much about the cities during this era. Mysteries are always my favorites, as well.

Thank you. Like you, I also like to see book authors fighting stereotypes, so I'd be bothered by the same things, especially the oversexualizing of homosexuality. But it does sound like an entertaining read.

It can be hard to picture an era past but it sounds like she does it. A description of lesbians from that era sounds spot on. Julie

Hmm. What's the point of a mystery with an easily-guessable plot? I'm also not a fan of romance, so I think I will skip. Thank you for your review.

I'm not crazy about the 1930s, so I think I will give this a pass.
