The first thing that captivated me about "The Mist Rises Over Notchey Creek" by Liz Andrews, is the cover page. I am a fan of good scenery just like what is depicted at the front. Also, the story and mystery about a heroine, supposedly whiskey distillery inheritor who turned into a small-town detective sounds very appealing to me. It has a good plot too. This book is going on my To Read List.

This sounds like a mystery I would enjoy. Being compared to Janet Evanovich's books means it combines suspense and comedy with eccentric quirky characters. I agree that the title could be improved but am willing to give this book a try. Congratulations to the author for being chosen as BOTD. Thanks to the reviewer for your excellent review.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, but if pressed to define what I liked least, the title is the only thing that comes to mind. Andrews paints a beautiful image of the mist rising from the foothills and effectively conveys symbolism by connecting it to a literary reference. However, as the title of a mystery and one with humor at that, it's not one that I would have selected had I not dug deeper for review purposes. Based on my response, I can't help but wonder if the book may be overlooked by other readers who would be missing out on a great read
.

You're right, it seems like an insignificant detail but sometimes we do judge books by their cover and their title and it seems like this book has much more to offer than it conveys at first glance.
I enjoy witty humor and a good mystery, so I'll definitely add this one to my to-read shelf. Thanks for your enthusiastic review.

I just read the first two sample chapters of this book and totally agree with your description of the imagery and the cast of eccentric characters. The creepiness of the mist over the creek on a dark night paints a perfect Halloween feeling, and I very much love the detailed and colorful painting of the late autumn season.
Aunt Wilma using a lawn mower instead of a car and wearing a pink shower cap on her first appearance on stage was highly memorable - if the rest of the book does indeed deliver more of this humor as your review promises, then I can't wait to read it.

I love a good mystery. And I'm glad to know that there is humour too as its the first thing that I look forward to reading. The character seems interesting the way you describe them. Thanks for your review!

Your review was very well written! The title would not allude to a humorous novel and did bring down my interest at first. After reading your character descriptions and the layers in the plot, I’m definitely more interested in what’s behind the cover now. Thank you!

After reading your review and the sample, I found myself so excited to read this book. There is nothing that I wouldn't like. "is the debut novel", "her enormous pet pig, Matilda", "a parade of complex and eccentric character", "dark secret", "unexpected humor", " family whiskey distillery" which is unique, and set in a small town in the mountains. What is not to LOVE! The cover definitely caught my eye, and the first thing I thought of was, "a mystery", I'm in! It's a must-read for me.

The review is a amazing!! I loved the way in which the book's each nuance is described. As for the book, I like this kind of cover. The title is quite spooky especially since I associate mist with something spooky... I would definitely want to read this book, since it seems like a book to read curled up in your couch.

Quite an intriguing story of a whisky distilling detective Harley in the book "The Mist Rises Over Notchey Creek" by Liz Andrews. Harley is a smart, educated, and hard working investigates the murder in Southern town with the help of memories from her own childhood which begin to surface during investigations. The book looks very much captivating.

Seemingly it is too good for a debut novel. C/T/M/H is one of my favorite genres, so this one will not mis my 'to read' collection. Congratulations on being BOTD
