Not sure if the subject matter is to my interest, however I love a crime thriller. This might be one I'd end up enjoying, thanks!

The very beginning of the book was exciting, but as I continued reading, the book kind of became a little boring. I do like a good thriller or mystery book, but I think I will pass on this one. Your review really helped me in the description of the novel.

Based on the review of the book this is not something that I would enjoy reading. I am not a fan of crime/mystery thrillers. I also have no interest in the story; about the business world, corporate espionage, clandestine agencies, or the expansion of the Panama Canal. I will pass on reading this book.

Excellent review! This book sounds intriguing and like it is a page-turner. I enjoy novels with intrigue, mystery, and murder at times but just don't feel in the mood to embark on this one right now. The sample was ok and your review piqued my interest, however, the cliff-hanger ending doesn't necessarily appeal to me. I am putting it on my shelves and when the next book comes out will read them both!

Thriller about the expansion of the Panama Canal. For reading the excerpt and the review it really is a cliff-hanger, especially for those interested in thriller and crime stories. Maybe I´ll tried it out.

Thank you for your review. I loved the quick pace of the sample, and it does seem to be very interesting. I’m glad to know he took the Panama Canal gig - and left his stifling fiancée!

The Expansion is a suspenseful thriller about the race to build an expansion on the Panama Canal. It is filled with espionage and romance. Congratulations to the author for being chosen as BOTD. Thanks to the reviewer for your excellent review.

A fast paced story about those trying to expand the Panama Canal, you say. That sounds intriguing, and I would expect little room for technical details. I know there should be enough to show conflict, but I have read a few stories lately that get technical to the point of slow reading... And the continuous array of possible pathways forward sounds like a must read!

Mystery and intrigue involving powerful countries is very intriguing. I am looking forward to this one. The book cover is very interesting, suggesting violence and death, adding more lure to fans of the genre. Congrats!

This book sounds like it has a lot going for it, from corporate espionage to construction competition for vying nations, then, clandestine agencies and even clean romance. I'd love to check it out. Thanks for the sterling review.

This review is very encouraging. I also read the sample and I must say, Christoph Martin seems to be an extremely talented writer. He certainly did extensive research on the Panama Canal and the bidding process. :techie-reference:

The only issue at all that I have with this book is the blatant cliffhanger left at the end of the novel. I understand that all of the money in literature these days is in series and sequels, but I am not a fan of the implicit hook at the end of a novel which essentially all but states, "to be continued." That being said, this is a relatively short (~300 page) book and there is ample room for additional tales within the same character base/plot. A sequel would not be unwelcome.
I love a good thriller and it's not so easy to find one that gets the characters, pacing and all other elements right. But I agree with you: cliffhangers should be handled with a balance between giving the reader some closure but still leaving him wanting to read the sequel.
Thank you for your enthusiastic review!
