The book begins with Lara and Uri having the time of their lives, but it is soon rudely interrupted. The headlines announce the interruption of a plot to contaminate the Los Angeles water supply with polonium, a lethal radioactive substance.

I haven't read the book, yet. however, there happens to be an audiobook, and a paperback book, as well. I listened to the virtual audio sample, and it sounds good. however, this is the fifth edition, and so if you were interested in this book, then you should read the first four books, first. Also, I don't really like fiction books that use too much of real life countries and other things that we can relate to. So, this really wouldn't be my kind of book.

“Waterworks” by Jack Winnick is a fictional thriller about a terrorist attack on the Los Angeles water supply. Teams of terrorists that were members of an Iranian anti-American group added Polonium to the water supply by dropping it in the water from bridges in socks that they used to bring the poison into the U.S. Lara and Uri were already in Los Angeles on vacation so they were deployed to track down the terrorists and find their leader in Iran. This is an action thriller that readers do not want to put down until the last page. This book is Jack Winnick’s 5th book in this series and all of his books are well-written and excellent. I highly recommend this book.

Lara and Uri are two investigative agents I call a motivational sensation. This is because of the way they discharged their duties. They both later fell in love and have been married here for more than a year. Here, they are faced with identifying those behind the poisoning of the Los Angeles water system. Congrats on the BOTD and a well-written review.

Waterworks by Jack Winnick novel is may sound like fiction but it's real. This nowadays war doesn't use physical weapons like guns, bombs and missiles but more technology and science is being discovered and used. Natural items now are used such as air, water and soil to fight political battles against their enemies. I would like to applaud the author for such significant research and knowledge in the subject. However the way the scenes switched to the other scene or location was a bit a not smooth transition but nonetheless I quickly connected the two dots. I liked the story , it's relevant and I relate with the content.great work

This gripping crime thriller takes an insightful look into the mindset of the terrorist antagonists. The author reveals that for these extremists, the notion of martyrdom in service to their interpretation of Islamic glory and the promise of eternal paradise was not the worst-case scenario - in fact, it was their sought-after objective. This compelling plotline provides enlightening context around the religious fervor and beliefs driving the terrorists' heinous acts. By delving into their warped worldview where suicide attacks are a sublime calling rather than an abhorrent last resort, the book casts a thought-provoking light on the complex interplay of faith, fundamentalism, and criminal ideology. This multi-layered exploration of religious motivation amidst pulse-pounding thriller sequences makes for a uniquely captivating read.

Waterworks by Jack Winnick is indeed an enjoyable read and an eye opener to the fact that war does not have to follow standard conventions and that it can involve things other than guns and bombs that are now considered common. This book also doesn't let up on the reader's attention as it immediately gets into action regarding a potential city poisoning incident and leaves the reader to wonder what will follow afterward.

Thank you for sharing your detailed thoughts on Jack Winnick's "Waterworks"! I appreciate your thoughtful analysis of the book's strengths, such as the exploration of terrorism through water supply poisoning, the historical background of settings, and the fast-paced narrative. Your observations on the personal lives of spies and the balance it brings to the action and political aspects are insightful.

I also agree that the minor editing issues and lack of translations for foreign phrases could be improved, but they do not detract significantly from the overall reading experience. Your recommendation for a wider age range and audience interests, as well as your rating of five out of five, will certainly pique the curiosity of potential readers.

Happy reading!
