This sounds like a great book! You're really tempting me to read it, even though I don't like politics and such very much. Cecilia, the stepdaughter of the president, kind of sounds like the protagonist in the Chinese historical fiction piece "Sui Tang Yan Yi", where he is adopted by a relative of the tyrannical emperor for his outstanding fighting capabilities and knowledge, which seems to match up with how you've described Cecilia --- a green snake. Sounds like an amazing book, will definitely read it if I get the time!

I like that this book has as its main character a smart woman who performs equally well as an action star in the theater of war and in the halls of office. I'm glad this reviewer pointed it out because it is rare in this type of novel. From what this reviewer said about the characters and plot development, I am inclined to reach out to read this book.

The protagonist of this book, Cora, was a female with a variety of fighting abilities. However, she disapproved of those who killed innocent people in cold blood and upheld the concept that they shouldn't. Her skills were evident when she murdered the Libyan terrorists who had conspired to attack and assassinate the American ambassador in their country. At the time, Cora worked for House Speaker Sarah Vasquez. Interesting BOTD.

I'm not big into political thrillers, so I will pass on this one, but Cora's willingness to fight for American democracy is amazing to read. Thanks for the review!

This book has a very good combination of the action and suspense genre. I like the proposal of this book because it realizes the power of women as working mothers in their different facets. It also highlights the image that we were very strong and powerful, in addition to doing incredible work. It is already a great recommendation for today, a reading that will keep you attentive.

President Locke refuses to accept losing and is willing to do whatever it takes to remain in power even if it means putting an entire country at risk He exposes how leaders can become threats if they refuse to accept losing power.🫧🍀

Thank you for such a detailed and engaging review! I really appreciated how you highlighted Cora Walker’s strong moral compass, especially her refusal to kill in cold blood. That adds a layer of depth to her character and separates her from the typical action-hero trope. I also found your description of her role in protecting Sarah Vasquez from the tyrannical President Locke very compelling. It’s great to hear that the story balances political intrigue with action, and that the female characters—especially Cora and Cecilia—are portrayed as competent and principled. Your breakdown really makes me want to pick this one up!

To be honest, Cora's view of life is close to my own philosophy—innocents must be saved and no mercy for guilty, especially in crimes against children. It is appealing to read how the dilemma of the necessity of political murder will resolve itself, because Terrance Locke doesn't sound like someone who will hear the reason, so stopping him is not just part of her job description, but also will prevent his tyranny from spreading over the entire country.

I love political thrillers, so I'm sure I'll enjoy Second Term by J. M. Adam. Cora sounds like such an interesting character. Hopefully, she'll be able to foil President Locke's plans.
