The story follows Sushil and his girlfriend Raksha as they head to Rukta’s birthday celebration. There, Sushil runs into his ex-manager Usha and her fiancé Sohan. The atmosphere at the party quickly spirals into chaos when it becomes clear that it’s a drug-fueled gathering, prompting Sushil to leave in discomfort.
Things take a serious turn when Usha encounters a young Nepali girl in distress—bound and gagged. She immediately reaches out to Sushil for help. Without hesitation, Sushil rescues the girl and hands her over to the authorities. But for him, the matter doesn’t end there. He pushes the Mumbai Police to launch a full investigation into the girl’s abduction, aiming to bring those responsible to justice.
The unfolding events raise several questions—Will the criminals be caught? What lies ahead for Usha and the girl? How will this affect the people tied to the BWOOD group? The story keeps readers engaged as it answers these questions in unexpected ways.
The novel is written in a clean, straightforward style that’s easy to read. The chapters are short and crisp, making the story easy to follow and hard to put down. Each character is carefully crafted, allowing the themes of justice, love, betrayal, and friendship to shine through naturally.
There was little to criticize. The language was accessible to a broad audience, and I only noticed a single minor typographical error, which didn't affect the reading experience.
Overall, this is a compelling and well-executed piece of fiction. I wholeheartedly award it 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to anyone who enjoys emotionally resonant, character-driven stories.
Star rating 5 out of 5

The story follows Sushil, an actor, who attends a party with his girlfriend, Raksha. What starts as a casual evening quickly turns into something sinister when he realizes the event is centered around drug use. Disgusted, he leaves—only to be pulled into a far more serious situation. Usha, his former manager, discovers a young Nepali girl who has been bound and gagged. She turns to Sushil for help. He not only rescues the girl but insists the police pursue justice and uncover the truth behind the incident.
What follows is a tense, emotionally driven pursuit of justice, woven with complex relationships and moments of vulnerability. The story raises important questions: How far would you go to do the right thing? What happens when the truth threatens powerful people?
The book is structured with short, sharp chapters that make it easy to read and hard to put down. Chandra Preethi’s writing style is simple yet effective, allowing readers to stay connected to the characters without getting lost in heavy prose. The pacing is quick, and the emotional tension is well-maintained throughout.
One of the strengths of this book is how it handles sensitive topics with care. The characters are more than just names on a page—they feel real, flawed, and driven by genuine emotions. While fiction, the story resonates because of its grounding in truth and its relevance in today’s world.
I noticed only one small typographical error, which speaks volumes about the professional editing of the book. It's rare to find such a cleanly written self-published work.
I highly recommend The Diary of an Actor – Part 1 to readers who enjoy contemporary fiction with depth, social relevance, and a dash of suspense. This is not just a story—it’s a reflection of voices often silenced and a tribute to those who dared to ask questions.
