I can stand gory scenes as long as they are necessary. And I like them better in books than on film.

I wish I can find the time to enter the altered reality of these characters. I like stories of mentor and mentee, like The Karate Kid. I hope Samuel learns from sensei James.

Thanks for the action-filled review!

This kind of book is not my cup of tea. However, I think you did an amazing job in your review. Your comparison with known pop culture figures, as well as sharing your own experience and feelings when reading the book makes for a very compelling review.
I can't tell why the author decided to relish on gruesome details, but I'm glad you made a warning for people who are sensitive to these issues.
Great review, thanks!

I love finding new worlds with different rules and names for their inhabitants. Alter is one of the better names I've seen given to people with special abilities. I'm a huge fan of super hero and supernatural literature. I will have to look into this series. Thanks for the review.

Awesome review! I felt that the book itself came alive through your descriptions. Although not keen on gory details, I believe I will like this page-turner full of twists!

I agree. Reading feels more like watching as well. Thanks for chipping in!

I am intrigued with the simple yet rich style mentioned, it's usually not easy to pull off.
Great review by the way.
Thanks a ton, eat_anthony. I'm positive you'd find this read as exhilarating as the Marvels. Glad you stopped by!

The book sounds like there is a lot of action and features characters with special abilities. I don't much like knowing the gory details of murders. You followed the book's storyline well moving from Hong Kong to America.

It sure does feature excitable scenes. I also your reservations, thanks for coming over, LV2R.

Hmm, this is a great review about a book I would probably never read, yet I appreciate your sentiments that this will end up in a blockbuster movie.
