I've really fallen in love with Nathaniel by John Saul, it's so scary and chilling because in my head it could really happen. He writes such amazing and interesting characters with such incredible backstories. If you love horror this is the book for you. I'm a huge John Saul fan I enjoy all of his books there's one where there's several books in one that I can't remember the title of but I will be reviewing as well. He's one of my favorite horror authors of all. I've been reading his books since I was 13.

Blackstone chronicles by John Saul is terror to die for, I read the first one and couldn't wait for the next installment it was an incredible set of stories based on different cursed antiques owned by crazy people. I had nightmares about it but wow oh wow it's so well written and the backstories are so well thought out I would absolutely read this book again and again...I think I'll go look for it now :)

The Reacher books are better as a series. Each book can stand alone but as a whole they all become much better.
I've never read a Reacher book that I didn't love so I agree that you may enjoy it more as a series. Try starting from the beginning and see how you enjoy it.

Lisa Jackson is my favorite author in this genre. She has many series featuring certain detectives and their current cases involving serial killers, murders, and sometimes family secrets. My favorite of her series is her New Orleans Series. Each book in the series follows Detective Bentz and Montoya as they hunt down different serial killers who stalk the streets of New Orleans and the surrounding areas. She definitely keeps her readers on their toes as she slowly reveals the perpetrator and his/her plan to evade capture and continue killing.

I recommend the book I just read, The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware. Finished fairly quick, so it was a mix of easy reading and being suspenseful enough to not want to put down. I would say 4/5, because i wasn't too keen on the ending. Otherwise it was definitely a page turner! Plenty of plot twists to keep you guessing, and the author found a way to show you a little bit of info from the future of the main character, before jumping back into the present... Just enough to give you more questions instead of answers. Fun read.

Ah, then have you read the A Five-Ingredient Mystery series? I read the first book, 'By Cook or by Crook', quite a while back. It wasn't my cup of tea, but maybe you'll like it better than I did. :D If I recall correctly, there're recipes inside the book, too!

I love trying to figure out the "who dunnit" aspect of thrillers and crime stories BUT I get turned off when it's the same old formula. You know the one...either it's the grizzled old detective who has seen it all OR the sharp young damsel who just happens to stumble into a mystery. I enjoyed some of Patricia Cornwell books because I love the technical aspects. Greg Iles is good and so are some of Ted Dekkers. Any recommendations??

I have recently read several of Kendra Elliot's books. I enjoy how she has a few books in each series to truly allow the characters to develop but I don't believe she is always consistent in the characters story line from book to book.

An amazing book I have just finished was gone girl by Gillian Flynn. Let me say AMAZING! There are so many surprises and twists you won't be able to put the book down!
At the beginning you think you know what's happened and then more and more clues are thrown at you. There are multiple times in the book you will be screaming "WHAT!?!"
This book will have you questioning people's intentions and what they are capable of.
You may look at your significant other in a completely different way!
If you love thrillers this is the book for you I've never read another book like this and I've read a lot of crime books

The girl on the train by Paula Hawkins was sooo good!
The entire book makes one character seem like they have nothing going for them and can't keep their life together with a terrible divorce, cheating and drinking but it's all a cover up for the big shock in the book. This book will make you so angry and shocked and you won't want to put it down!

One that my father has been recommending for me all year has been "I am Pilgrim" which I really need to get round toreading however an avalanche of poetry and Jane Eyre for my English studies seem to be keeping me away from it haha!

Lisa Unger's "In the Blood" is a book I would recommend. It's your typical mystery book, but with a twist.

Ruth Ware is a newer author and has wonderful skills for thrillers. I enjoy the mystery behind her writing.
