This storyline seems very engaging. Jerry Porter and Slacker Mills seem very close. I hope Slacker Mills eventually clears his name and regains his standing in the community.
Insofar as the word 'should' even has meaning, then we must say that the past is exactly as it should be, everything that happened should have happened, and everything that should happen will happen

Excellent review that includes both an analysis of the story and the writing. Thank you for such a complete review that makes it so easy to see if a book is a match to a reader. I don’t care for fishing and am glad that doesn’t distract from the story.

A FANTASTIC beginning of a new mystery series! Slacker is an endearing if somewhat rough main character, The friendship between Slacker and the mysterious Jerry is intriguing. The description of the the Key West fishing community is very picturesque . Congratulations on a Great review :tiphat:

I don’t think the content of this book is for me, but I can really appreciate the quality of writing demonstrated, and the characters definitely jump off the page.

Slacker is indeed a man who loves freedom to do what he wants at his own time, but the dead of his friend change the narrative of his life

Friendship are so important that's why i really like how this book portrays the importance of friendship or being in the company of a friend. The friendship between Slacker and Jerry might not have lasted long, but it is a friendship I could see as a beneficial one.

So this is about some friends who come together and bond through fishing. I am sure that there will be some moral lessons in between. I am looking forward to reading this book. Congratulations to the author on winning book of the day.

Another great book and a great review about it. 4 out of 4 for the review. I'm not a fisherman but found reading all the detail about fishing and the gear it requires, fascinating. The analogies and descriptions made me laugh. The fact that the story had a number of slow patches didn't deter from my enjoyment. The review put into a few paragraphs everything that a reader may want to know. A great start to a series. Well deserves BOTD.

The story sounds fascinating, and even more so, your review.
I can't wait to read the next installment and find out if our angler got hooked by a lady tarpon!
- I will be angling to read this book, even with all the faults, mainly because I got hooked with your review. Thank you.

This sounds like it'll be such a great and intriguing read, though the cover could use some work. I wonder who killed Jerry. Can't wait to read!

Free Fish Friday is such a fun name for a book. This sounds like a bizarre but interesting read. I really enjoyed your review.

Gali, thanks for the great review. It made the book come to life. One thing -- it may have had a slower pace than some, but I found it put me smack in the middle of the characters' world, and pulled me through the story so effectively that I really wanted to read it in one sitting, from beginning to end. (I couldn't do that, I had to break away, but it wasn't easy!) I agree, you can't help but thoroughly care about the characters, what happens in the end, and how the story continues to unreel (sorry) in the next installment. Good start for a book series!

This seems like a great mystery series, at first I was hesitant because I was unsure how important the fishing part would be, but the book and the series seem amazing.
