I generally don't enjoy stories about war and the aftermath. I didn't know Juicy Fruit was slang for drugs. Still, this one sounds well-written and thrilling.

I'm so excited to read this one!! Thank you for the great review! Woohoo!

Today's BOTD is one of action, suspense, and conflict, both internal and external. It draws awareness to mental health issues faced by war heroes and gets readers thinking about the choices we make and how their outcomes affect us. I'm really looking forward to reading this...thank you, again!

Reminds me of Sly Stallone’s First Blood, with Vietnam vet John Rambo wandering around trying to find peace while the authorities hassle him. I may check this one out. Thanks for the review, InStoree. :techie-studyingbrown:

Sounds like a thrilling book. I'm quite curious to see how the themes of war and its psychological effects on veterans are explored. Thanks for the great review!

Even though I am not a fan of crime thrillers, the review made me want to read the book. Will definitely take time to read it and see whether I can also give 4 out of 4 stars. Thanks for the great review.

I'm usually more of a fan of true crime stories, however, The Juicy Fruit Man sounds like a mostly realistic and well-written thriller. I might give it a go. Thank you for your review!

I think fighting the demons I bring back with me would be harder. I like the opening comments on the review. The comments are engaging. This sounds like an interesting crime and mystery book. Additionally, action, suspense, and realism are some of the qualities that season a plot. I might consider it. Congratulations to the author.

As someone with family members who've fought in combat overseas, reading this was very personal. Dealing with PTSD, along with other mental health issues, can be a war just as painful as the soldiers saw on the battlefield. Unfortunately, like Declan Noakes, the Vietnam veteran, many turn to drugs in order to cope, which can be a true horror. The plot of this novel sounds very exciting and I look forward to reading it some day.

This definitely sounds like a high-octane thriller, along with some realistic depictions of war trauma. I'm glad that this one seems to be an all-rounder, with good plot and writing style. Thanks for the review.

Thanks for the review. I appreciate the heads up of the graphic descriptions. I tend to avoid detailed conflicts so will probably pass, but it sounds like a well written book.
