It sounds extremely intense. I don't know if I'm up for such a book at this time. I'm currently reading World War II historical fiction. I tend to review a lot of historical fiction from that time period, and sometimes the scope of human brutality becomes a bit overwhelming to me. I really appreciated your review, though. It was very well written. :tiphat:

The sample pages were quite interesting and moved along at a brisk pace. Your review confirms this is a very well-written book on a contemporary topic. I don’t think I can get past the initial horrific scene, so I will not finish this book. Thank you for a great review.

The plot sounds interesting, and I love that the author wove romance into a book concerning such serious topics. The events in this book could easily be ones that happen today, and that makes them particularly relevant. However, just from reading the sample, I think the same messages could have been sent without the sensationalism. I'm going to skip this one for now. Thanks for the insightful review!

This book is amazingly intense! The first chapter alone got me hooked. That's how you know it is going to be a good book. I have a basic understanding of the Middle East and so I have a little bit of a context point. Infidels, Zionists, terror. This book has it all!! I cannot wait to see how it ends.

I only read the free amazon sample, but I honestly dont think I could've read much more. I love descriptive books, however I found it annoying that we're given so many details about every character as soon as we meet them. I feel like that information would be better spread out through the multiple encounters with each character. When you meet someone in real life you don't fill out questionnaires to find out everything about them, you learn about them over time. You build a relationship, you're not handed one. And I'm sure we find out more about each character throughout the story, too. I also didn't like how much the beginning chapters hopped from one characters perspective to another's. If the chapters weren't so short, it probably wouldn't bother me. They're almost like sub chapters. I also don't agree with the redundancy in the book. If we find out about something in chapter 2, we dont need it redescribed in chapter 3. If ch. 3 needs the information, present it more concisely. And I think the author pointed out how admired the imam was like 5 times in the same chapter. It's overkill. And one more thing: Can't we have a strong leading female character who doesn't need to be 'softened up' by a love story? I would've liked Lara better as a man-eater! I guess I would've given this book a 1-star review. Not that I disagree with what the reviewer included in their assessment, but I guess it would spin differently from my perspective.

Lara and Uri, both topnotch agents in their parts of the world, put their heads together to defeat the "devil." I cannot reconcile how a religion that espouses peace teaches its followers to kill. In this story, small children are beheaded for their misguided cause.

Devil in False Colors is another thrill-packed story from Jack Winnick featuring Lara and Uri, the assassins. Great characters, great plot, very pertinent to today's world. It promises to be an excellent read.

Thank you for the wonderful review. Anything dealing with modern Israel and the issues of the Middle East -- and where American and other major world players fit in -- really interests me. I'm glad you pointed out some of the potentially charged statements in the book; I hope those who might disagree with those political views can still enjoy the book and learn about alternative points of view.

Thanks for the review. I don't have much interest in political issues. So this book is not my type. But I am sure your review will be helpful for those interested in this topic.

This sounds like a highly absorbing book, not only because of the plot and the action in it, but also I think the background information about religion and politics sounds fascinating. Uri and Lara also sound like engaging characters with interesting histories. Apart from being entertained when I read, I love learning things as well, and it certainly sounds that this book will provide me with this opportunity. Thank you for an interesting and engaging review.

I'm already familiar with Lara and Uri's adventures in Jack Winnick's novel East Wind, so I think the duo will once again save the day and stop the hate crimes started so hideously with the murdered children at the Jewish school in Beverly Hills. Thanks for your review!
