I'm not really a fan of books that has themes like grief and sadness. However, I hope Salty and Sylvia both find the closure they seek. Thank you for penning a wonderful review here.

I enjoyed reading your review. From reading just the sample, I can tell this is a great read. The plot is strong and intriguing. Salty appears to be a very troubled character who bad luck follows everywhere he goes. I am not sure how much more we read about Frank but I liked his character, albeit he was always bullied by Frank. This is certainly a book I would love to complete. To read about Salty's escapades after he killed his wife, dumped her body and abandoned his daughter. He seems shady from the start. Congrats to the author for penning a great book and being selected for today's read.

The book sounds interesting and pretty emotional. A girl who is now fully grown seeking answers and a man who had comitted a crime and tried to get away with it. It will be interesting to find out how Salty and Sylvia deal with their situations. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

The majority of the characters in this book seem to have troubled pasts or histories they are trying to forget. It would be fascinating to learn about their prior life, I'm sure. Congrats on botd!

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting mystery/thriller novel about a father, Salty, who accidently kills his wife and feels that he must quickly disregard this life and find somewhere quiet to live out his life. Many years later, he is confronted by his daughter, Sylvia, who will do anything to get closure. It might be worth a second look. Well done.

The story this book tells, seems to me a little bit too close to reality. All things mentioned in the review starting from "complex relationship between a father and daughter" and ending with the former's involvement in a criminal situation make me uncomfortable, so I am not sure that I will read it, even though it's free. Sorry and congrats!

What an intriguing plot! The author calls his story funny. I am eager to find out how so. Thanks for the free book. I am looking forward to sharing in Salty and Sylvia's journey toward reconciliation, hopefully.

Even though Salty was in the wrong for killing his family, I do hope that he is able to realize his mistake, get his due, and move on with his life. This ought to make for an interesting realistic story. Thanks for the review!

Although one's past can hunt, am trying hard to know what would be the reason for murdering his wife.

I like the way Discard slowly builds up to the point that Salty accidentally shoots his wife. The plot gives us enough time to learn how his character flaws and the flaws of his wife's character led to the fateful accident.

By killing his wife, Salty made the error of separating his child from his mother. It's really extremely awful, and I hope Salty gets what's coming to him for the damage he's done. I'd love to read the book to find out how everything turned out.

Not my type of book. But it seems Salty has a long way to go and overcome some past mistakes. I'm more curious about Sylvia's storyline. Great job with the review.

I was left thinking about what would make Salty kill his wife leaving the daughter, Sylvia, without a mother. Nice review anyways.
