I read the sample provided, and although I found the book to be nicely written, it didn't grab me. However, I like novels that use dialogue to move the story and establish character, the way it's used in this book. Also, I thought the review offered a bit of a spoiler regarding the killings that, as a reader, I would have preferred to discover on my own. Congrats to Mr. Kileen on his achievement.

It's sad that Charlie's help turned out so badly. I would love to know more about what happened to Ann. I'll check out this book.

What a twisted story about Charlie! I'm so eager to follow the police in their investigation of the matter. It will be exciting when they meet their successes and frustrating to meet dead ends. I'd like to experience all those feelings.

Charlie's Diner is a story filled with suspense, mystery and humour about a man named Charlie who had suffered a terrible loss in life - the loss of a child and then later his wife. Despite his considerable wealth, he was an unhappy man and envied families which he considered happy.
A happenstance with Paul Owen's family in Charlie's favourite diner reshaped their lives forever.

On one faithful day, as he sat at his regular spot, he observed a family he hadn't seen before in town, and as he watched them, he was reminded of his loss. As the family was leaving, he gifted them a thousand dollars to assist them financially. However, that gift did more harm than good. Paul, the husband, used the money to buy a bike instead of paying the bills. This action caused Ann, Paul's wife, to return to Charlie, seeking more money to pay the bills. Charlie gave her some cash in exchange for some minor sexual gratification. Paul catches them in the act one day. He stabs Charlie to death, and Ann stabs him in self-defense before he can kill her too.
- Sounds very complicated but is actually quite straight forward. A wonderful review. Thank you.

Truly, one should never judge by the cover, because I never would have expected such a complex story behind a simple cover. I was hooked thanks to the description provided in the review, but not much was revealed by the reviewer and now I can't wait to read it in all the fine detail. Thanks and congrats with BOTD!

This is an interesting book full of suspense, mystery, and drama. I feel sorry for the heartache he endured and how he didn't get his happy ending. I hope Ann gets one, though. Congratulations on BOTD!

This novel captures some spiralling events that are caused by simple gestures like handing out some money to help. I'm interested to see how everything plays put. Congrats on BOTD!

The way you've described Charlie's grief over the loss of his daughter and wife is both powerful and heartbreaking. The way you've written about him sitting at the diner, observing a family with a young daughter, really brings to life the pain and longing he must be feeling. You've done an excellent job of making Charlie's emotions palpable to the reader.

Greed rears its ugly head and destroys a happy family. I'm intrigued about the plot twist and the humor. The title may need more excitement, though.

I liked the way the details of charlie’ life were narrated, and I was saddened by his loss of his wife and daughter, but I was curious about that woman or the children. What happened?

Charlie's kindness at the diner ends up changing a family's life, but not for the better. Find out if the past will catch up to the wife in this murder mystery. Thanks for the review

Charlie is murdered and that's how the story begins for Ann. As I read a review of this book I was thinking of the harm caused by our generosity to others; however, we never how others are going to respond to our generosity, and this book shows a dark side of people who respond have responded to it.
