I love this particular genre although the stories usually involve action driven plots. I like a quick read that is hard to put down regardless of genre and am adding this one to my TBR list.

Thanks for the review. I find the main focus of the story interesting. The main characters finding a cure but for different reasons. Because of this, the difference could lead to numerous events which may turn disastrous. I hope that the cure would turn a success at the end (though ot is still fiction).
Congrats on BOTD.

Two people working on the same research but with different objectives. One trying to get fame while the other one wants to really help others. This is an every day story. I hope fame and fortune does not win. The inclusion of psychological aspects in the plot is a plus. Thanks for the review.

Dealing with a scientific theme sound fascinating. I like that it doesn't necessarily involve a lot of action and is a quick read. It helps when you don't want to put down the book. It sounds fast paced which is something I really enjoy. Always moving forward are my favorite types of books to read. Thank you for sharing such a great review with us.

I read the free sample and with the first chpater I could get an idea about the content of the book. Your descriptive review confirmed it. I agree that the writing was really good and with the use of more dialogues it is a quick read, which I really like. Thank you for the review

From the sample, I get that Prescott has a way of testing drugs for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. In order for a drug to be tried, there has to be a disease ongoing that has to be treated. And Prescott has developed this in his mice. Any cure, therefore, that could be discovered must necessarily make use of his mice, making him share in the glory of the achievement. A race for the discovery of the cure for Alzheimer's disease is currently in progress and the lingering worry of Prescott is for another researcher to find a cure without making use of his 'mice' which would render him noncontributory to the successful discovery. And he has his fears being embodied in the person of Pam Weller who developed an alternative way of drug screening or testing for a cure. This much, the sample gives. This is holding me hostage for reading more and finish the novel if I have time. Thanks for your review, I have at least glanced at a much farther juncture of the story.

The Prize by Geoffrey M Cooper

This novel is a big change of genre from what I have been reading lately and I was hooked. It started a little slow, but after a few more pages I will admit I was intrigued. Cooper does an excellent job describing the characters and showing real emotions and thoughts instead of elaborated. It is refreshing to read a more realistic novel. I only read the sample, but I am considering buying the novel just to see what happens!

Great job on the review! After reading the Amazon synopsis, I was just 'meh', but your review made a great case for reading this tome! I do have a feeling, though, that like you, I'll get angry and raise my fist, and maybe even curse my screen out, *lmao!*

Aside from a character on General Hospital and a character on Supergirl, I don't know anyone with Alzheimer's, but wouldn't it be great if a cure for this terrible disease really did become available?

Nice review! This story sounds pretty intense if it caused you such anger. It's good when an author can thoroughly pull you into a story, especially when it's a quick read.

There is something with this book that makes me want to read it. Oerhaps it's the theme about Alzheimer's and finding a cure for an incurable disease. I am into medical field and this is a very interesting topic. Aside from that the drive of the 2 scientists is something that make this book somehow unique in a way. In everything that we do, there is always a prize for things.

Interesting review, I like a book with strong characters that feel real. And this one sounds like a psychological thriller that I will enjoy.
