The Antigen seems like a great novel. The plot of the book makes me think of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The story seems well written and well developed. The story also explores interesting themes like journalism, greed, and murder among others. I look forward to reading this book. Congratulations on making botd!
This book sounds interesting, and I want to know what happens to Faraday and Caroline as they fight for justice and work to expose the virus conspiracy.
“The Antigen: The Seed of Corruption Pt 2” is the concluding part of the fictional novel written by A. I. Faber. An American investigative journalist named Caroline and a wildlife painter named Faraday had valuable information that could rock the world. They have insider information from Caroline’s adopted brother Tuan, that viruses were being deliberately manipulated in a lab in Hanoi, Vietnam, and were spread deliberately to water resources to initiate a bird flu pandemic. Caroline was writing the story but her East Asian employers needed proof. While she searches for proof she wondered if journalists can spread the truth worldwide. Sadly, powerful corporations and state-sponsored entities were able to operate in plain sight while average citizens were distracted by the threats of viral pandemics. The three of them escaped Vietnam and went to London, their lives were being threatened, but Caroline was not ready to back out. The plot to this novel is complicated and the main theme is journalism. Other prevalent themes including the trading of counterfeit paintings, designing virus mutations, contaminating drinking water to spread bird flu to humans and cattle, vaccines being launched without testing, the greed of big pharma, and the involvements of governments across the world. The book also includes murders, chases, espionage, hacking, insider trading and the dark web spreading misinformation. For readers that have not read the first book in this story the author included a book 1 summary. The bottom line of this story is greed, the fact that money is the most powerful incentive in most lives. How can the journalists achieve success by spreading the truth when their media bosses are involved in the crimes? While many Americans believe that China is not the only country involved in lab created diseases to be used as weapons of war, this story shows that it is more than the development of military weapons but can be used by greedy people in governments for major financial gain. The Antigen would kill this virus but due to mutations of the virus it could keep terrorizing the world. While this story is not specifically about COVID-19, it is very similar. I wonder why the U.S. took several weeks to implement ways to keep Americans safe, denied the rapid spread of COVID-19 and as a result of misinformation more than 1 million Americans died from COVID-19. If Trump had acted immediately instead of suggesting people ingest bleach or recommending other drug remedies that he and his cronies had invested in, they might have been saved and maybe the pandemic would not have spread around the globe. I have added the book to my to-read shelf.
I love the second paragraph of your review. The book's essence and all crucial themes. I would like to follow Caroline's journey and understand how journalism unravels the mysteries in this thriller.
The review is thorough. There's a lot of reality in the book themes. It can be related to many of what the world going through. May be it isn't for me, but I think it will appeal to many readers. Congrats on BOTD
Life is hard on its own so let's make it easier for each other if we could.
A. I. Fabler's "The Antigen: The Seed of Corruption Pt 2" delivers a complex and suspenseful thriller that exposes a global conspiracy involving manipulated viruses, corrupt institutions, and the perilous quest of a journalist and a painter to uncover the truth.
This book sounds intense and full of drama. I like that it discusses real problems, like virus labs and corruption. It makes me want to read it and see how the characters fight for the truth.
Here's the problem: I love science books. I'm a virologist in real life, so of course I love novels with science-y thriller themes. This, however, doesn't sound like science. It sounds like anti-science propaganda.
