Interesting book that covers race and has religious aspects too. Not sure it is my type of book but I appreciate the author's efforts in exploring these timely topics.

Racism is existent everywhere, even beyond the boundaries of America. I think we could all do with some values against this racism. Thank you very much for this thorough and honest review.

The idea of a 'new race' is interesting, although this kind of plan does not change the human heart. Nevertheless, the book would be good to get people thinking about racism. Great review!

This contemporary fiction sounds interesting. The author discusses race in a religious aspect and not just a political aspect. Congrats on the book of the day! Great review.

A book full of controversies does sound promising. I always like reading opposing views in book. Also "introducing a new race" sounds quite compelling, i am looking forward to learn more about it. Even though reading a book where main character has no depth in their story (at least their live, in that case Kimberly's visit to her dad) might be frustrating, the plot seem interesting enough.

Not a fan of racial discrimination stories. I get the need for awareness creation, but just not for me.

I enjoyed reading your detailed review. It gave me a reason to pause and rethink reading this book. I had decided I was going to pass after reading the sample but your review made me rethink that. I am very curious about the "new race." And I thought the book would be centered around Kimberly from the way it started! I'm going to check this one out for sure. Great review!

Indeed! It’s a mixed blessing this book is beautifully constructed, what a mind changing book to clear many misconceptions and I personally take as license to hope. I like it much thanks to the author

I haven't read any racism-centric book yet. By the looks of it, this one seems like a good place to start.

Mixed Blessings is a good title. The idea of a “new race” being invented sounds intriguing... I thought Kublai Khan was a poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge? Anyhow, it is a shame that Kimberley’s character wasn’t expounded upon. There is also a lot of description used in the sample I read which kind of slowed the pace for me.

I love the picture of a black baby on the cover page of this book. It deals with racial discrimination in America. It is very saddening to know about such things, and I hope this book will conscientize readers.

I have mixed feelings about Mixed Blessings . From the sample, the author definitely shows the ability to tell a story. But the characterization of the religious figures felt a little contrived and stereotypical. The idea of a new race is intriguing, but to my mind, there is only one race, the human race, which has many different families, not separate races. The well-written review gave some clarity and almost convinces me to read the book. Almost. :)

I like how the book gives you an inside into how people use religion to say that they do not like another race. It lets you know that anyone will say anything just so they can say that they do not like a person.

This book is not for me. I do not enjoy reading books about race, but I am glad you enjoyed it. I do find it interesting the dynamic between race and religion.
