Although the plot sounds interesting, it's not my type of book simply because I have zero knowledge about the military and things. But, the commander struggling with a smartphone does sound funny.

I think that military stories are interesting to me because of the attention to detail and the high stakes in every action of the characters. I commend the author for doing his homework and getting every detail of the Coast Guard accurate. I also like that the author highlighted the technological challenges that we had in the early 2000s, but at the same time showed the audience how far we have come with our technology.

The Commander ~ is a book written in the wake of the 9/11 terrorism threat which killed and injured hundreds. A newly appointed Commander, Jacob Edwards of the United States Coast Guard, assumes his new position as top-dog, on high alert.

This book is recommended for readers of action/thriller genre. Intriguing. Suspenseful. Very engaging.

~Thanks to the Author

Unfortunately, I have to pass the book. Don't take it personally, but in my opinion with how the world is at the moment, there is big enough trouble without adding to it special forces, domestic terrorist threat and military life. Even of the fictional kind. Still, congratulations on BOTD are definitely in order!

This seems to be an action-packed thriller that approaches the themes of terrorism, military, sabotage, politics, and a lot more. I don't think it is for me, but congrats on BOTD to the author! Thanks for the informative review!

I love action books with details. Like you, I like some "mystery". I like to try and figure out where the author is going to take the adventure. I really appreciate when the end is not always what you expect. This sounds like a book I might have to add to my always growing list of "to be read".
Great review!

"The Commander" by Dan E. Hendrickson - action-packed, detailed, and authentic coastguard background. The commander is guarding U.S. interests against terrorism in the 2 year time period after 9/11. Great characterization and plot. It's a hard to put down fiction. Thanks for the review.

I wasn't expecting the other side's perspective to be included, and I find it intriguing, but it's a shame that the author did it in a way that have everything away suspense and mystery and surprises are part of the fun of enjoying a story! Well, it is good that the author demonstrated such keen attention to detail. Thanks for your review!

A well-written military action-thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The story follows Commander Jacob Edwards on assignment to thwart terrorism attacks. The reader should expect, a thrilling read with great descriptions to spur the imagination. Fantastic review!

An action-adventure novel set in 2003. It addresses issues associated with terrorist threats that can put oil production in the Gulf of Mexico at risk. It seems an interesting option for lovers of that genre.
