From what I’ve read of the sample I think it’s a very intriguing concept and it’s definitely the kind of book I’d read.
On the downside, I’ve read a LOT of sci-fi/fantasy and one thing that really bothers me is when authors try to explain real science wrong when it’s fictional and they don’t even need to explain. There are 2 kinds of world builders: the first tells you how the world is and may or may not throw in a little bit of true scientific explanation but the bottom line is you accept their world because that’s how it works. The second kind, which is the kind who wrote this book, tries to explain the science parts as much as possible with actual science known and theorized when written. Except it was badly done with the time windows. First a window in time wouldn’t necessarily correspond to space, so the Earth oribiting would mean it’s more likely to open into space than ANYWHERE on Earth. Second, if you’re going to explain, why aren’t you explaining why you’re sure they’re opening into other dimensions and not just different times and places? It’s really upsetting to have science explained wrong, then either over or under explained if you’re going to be treating it like science fact. It’s better to just build your world like what you’re writing is just how it works or do your research.

But the mass dreaming and messing with the parents heads is pretty cool

I liked this very insightful review. I finished sampling this book just as the episode with Ruby Jenkins ended, and I did not feel like reading on because the sample felt too macabre, and I did not enjoy the meet-and-greet with the ninety-one-year-old demented Ruby in the toilet. But I hope that this book will find its audience who will enjoy it.

Disappearing people and vanishing nations must be scary. I like mysteries a la "Twilight Zone," so I will give this one a try. The cover and title aptly portray the "confusion" in Bob's life. Will he be able to tame his demons for good?
