The review is well balanced. You get both the pros and cons of the novel, at the same time having an idea of what the plot is about

The review is both an on and off for me. The beginning made me to want to read it but then comes the ending. So I am a little confused here.

It is interesting that this book only received two stars. From the first couple of paragraphs, I expected more. I guess the flaws halfway through the book were pretty major. I like the idea of it taking place in a newsroom; newsrooms and detective work are two vert exciting worlds. It seems like the book had a strong foundation, but it is a pity that it fell apart. Working in the background stories seamlessly is great; it builds deeper connections with characters. Good work on the review.

Thanks for your candid review! I will try to read it too and see if I agree. I like the fact that the beginning is fast paced which is the reverse for most novels. Perhaps shortening the novel may have sustained the tempo. Cheers!

Wow! I just read the sample and was totally captivated. Like reviewer Diksha I was totally engrossed and entralled, loving every beat as the story started. I was ready to read the book but... I am disappointed that these are the best chapters - what's there to stay for especially if you know who the killer is half way through the book? But the media is my profession so maybe just for that I will read the whole thing. Sad to hear the rest of it doesnt match the beginning. Its so rare to have such a gripping intro...

I read the sample and felt that the book had promise so I was very surprised when reading the review. It's disappointing to learn that these were some of the best parts of the story. I may still be willing to give it a read. Thanks for the review and the heads up !

This book sounds a little dull for me; it's too bad that it started out with so much potential but then began to drag. I enjoy mysteries, but the fact that you were able to figure out everything half way through the book makes me not want to read this one. Thanks for the insightful review.

Ultimately, the most important part of a book is its characters! It is disappointing to hear that the characters do not develop that connection. I think one of the things that makes the crime genre so popular is the relationship that develops between reader and character. We all have that villain we love to hate. And we all have that detective or investigator who we root for without end. However, my personal favorite is when there is a villain who you can sympathize with and a flawed investigator who just seems human. No matter your preference, we all are affected by the development of characters in a novel. In the end, it is the characters we remember most. Consider the archetypes of Romeo, Holden, and Iago. We have such complex emotions towards these characters that we cannot help ourselves — we must follow their plights until they reach an end.

An interesting beginning but a
boring ending. it sounds like an informative novels about the media that would improve one's vocab and is also full of mystery.
However, the readers already knows who the murderer is before getting to half the page of the book. The book does not leave You guessing nor at the edge of your seats because there wasn't a trill of the chase.
I was thinking of getting the book at the beginning, but thanks to your honest review I changed my mind at the ending

Wow.. The stories alpha was quite catchy and towards its omega I was taking aback in a negative way. :-)

It's a bit of a downer when a story starts out great but doesn't end with a bang. I'll probably read it for the thrilling bits as they do sound captivating.

There is nothing worse when you know how the book is going to end when you are only halfway through with it. While I like the idea of knowing more about the ins and outs of broadcasting, I think the plot issues are enough to make me stay away from this book. Thanks for your review!

Great quick synopsis and unfortunate ending. I like that the story didn't lag in the first two chapters but didn't like that he didn't hold it together the whole way.

Thank you for the review. Pointless subplots always leave me feeling disappointed. It's like the author has created a winding alley that ends in a misty bog far from the storyline.
