James Patterson. Have followed the Alex Cross books pretty much from the start. They just seem to get better and better.

I think it's rather difficult to judge who is one's favourite author, there are so many varied writing styles and all of them so engaging. I think in terms of frequency, I read James Patterson quite a lot, from among current cime authors.

Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta series and James Patterson's Alex Cross novels are two of my absolute favorites. I have many more; these were the first two that came to mind. Oh, I almost forgot about Michael Connelly; The Reversal was just amazing.

I like Brad Thor, David Baldacci, they are both good authors, James Patterson earlier work not so much the coauthor stuff. and Flynn can't think of his 1st name. But he is good too.

I agree Janet Evanavich is funny. But they are almost all the same just a little different I have read almost the entire series almost everything she has written.

I am currently reading Jeffery Deaver's the Kill Room. It is too slow a pace for me. Not enough action so far for me to really get into the story. I am too far into the story to quit now.I have already read 30 chapters. Maybe in the next 30+ chapters it will get exciting and more interesting.

I liked Tom Clancey for the 1st parts of his series. For his books it takes him about 20-30 chapters after the prologue to get good. If you can wade through that then it gets good. the 1st part is all detail Too much for a lot of readers me included but I wade through it so I can get to the good part. Start with Hunter for Red October and go from there. and follow the series in order because the books seem to interlock.

I am going to read some of these authors. Some of these guys I have never even heard of. I am looking forward to reading them. Thanks for the heads up.

I am in love with all the In Death books, featuring Eve Dallas the cop of the future, her gazillionare husband Roarke, her sidekick detective Peabody, and many other characters for you to fall in love with. I hate it when a book ends. Especially a good one. So if you are lucky to find a series like this to fall in love with, the story never ends. It just keeps getting better and better. And if I understand correctly there are over 30 in death books and more to come.

If you love crime and mystery with enough of a taste of romance to make your heart tingle you will love these books!

Among the contemporary authors, Robert Galbaraith seems pretty good;. Not your usual cup of tea but pretty good. Cormoran Strike may someday become a detective to be remembered.
