Final Notice by Van Fleisher is a work of fiction and is categorized as Science fiction. A beautiful masterpiece as a result of the interwoven chapters. The author has highlighted the problems currently facing us in society, yet he executes it in a humorous way.
Vijay has just invented a sports watch together with an application that is used in monitoring blood chemistry. Their target audience is generally senior citizens whose health isn't as stable anymore. Due to the increase in crimes all over and a discount by NRA on guns this app has to be closely monitored. They are using doctors to get users for their test. Before they even launch the watch the FBI is on their case and the press is already hounding them. The fact setting their invention apart is it gives a final notice alert within 30 days or less to death.
Vince and Trudi are retired and are just enjoying their time together. However, age is catching up with them as Vince is experiencing abuse yet he can do nothing about it. When one evening he's out on a walk with their dog, Miles, they are attacked by a dog and he's saved by Qasim who ends up being a close friend. Soon, he's plotting revenge and is thinking of getting a gun for defense purposes. His doctor suggests to him the watch, and he doesn't hesitate to accept it. He's not the only one with the watch and as the users receive their final notices, the reactions are varied and diverse. While some make peace with their demons, others are out to finish their enemies.
Fleisher has authored an amazing book. He has exhibited high levels of research in relaying this well-written book. I couldn't put down this book when I started reading it as it was so good and captivating. I like how well this book is balanced with several aspects being discussed yet none overpowers the other. He highlights the abuse facing seniors, crime, racism, gun control, family ties amongst many other issues.
There's nothing to hate in this book as I immensely enjoyed reading it. The story is interesting as it tackles real issues facing society. Despite it being a work of fiction, it sounds so real as the characters and plot are just perfect. The characters are well developed, and the relations and friendships incorporated to give it a human edge.
I rate this book a 4 out of 4 stars as I found no errors or any reason to reduce that perfect rating. Science fiction lovers would enjoy this and the crime parts that is exhibited is a plus. I didn't see strong language and the scenes are quite mild so a general adult audience is okay.
