Sometimes it is the person you would never expect. However, for our killer in The Dark Web Murders by Brian O’Hare, Chief Inspector Jim Sheehan has figured out his identity. Although the killer is not surprised that he has been identified, he is surprised however that it took Sheehan this long to confront him.

We follow Jim Sheehan and his colleagues on another adventure involving a killer and several victims. This time the killer is writing a blog on the dark web, a place where people can go to do or see all kinds of evil things, such as hire for murder or watch horrible videos. The killer in this book is on a revenge motive, starting with the judge that was over the trial that started everything.

I enjoyed the details that the author goes into. There are a lot of them, however it is needed in a book such as this. Brian O’Hare also took the time to write the initials and abbreviations for different things in the book before the story actually begins, so the reader will be able to know who or what he is talking about while reading.

The killer writes a blog on the dark web that Stewart finds. In it, the killer details each killing and even gives the detectives a clue about the last victim. I enjoyed that insight into the killer’s mind. I would suggest, though that the reader takes their time reading the killer’s blog. It is a more complex writing than the rest of the story.

I understand the meaning behind having so many characters in this story. It is needed given the plot. However, I feel as if it gets a little confusing when trying to remember who’s who in the story. I had to go back several times to the beginning where the author gives a short summary on each character. Some of the characters were very much needed and you saw them several times throughout the story. Other characters, not as much.

I have loved every book that I have read by Brian O’Hare so far. I do not understand why he is not a more popular writer in the mystery community. With all of that being said, I rate The Dark Web Murders a 4 out of 4 stars. I did notice a few errors; however, I did not have page numbers. I just had the percentage of what I had read in the story so far. I would recommend this book to any readers who love mystery books. Brian O’Hare has a way with words that makes the reader wanting to continue to read just to find out who the killer is. I must say that this one definitely threw me for a loop!
