The Dark Web Murders
Hand-washing after the deliverance of penalty does not alleviate blame for subsequent calamity. The prime mover must take a shared responsibility for events that occur as a result of his Judgement. The words above usher us into the book -The Dark Web Murders by Brian O’ Hare. This book gives a detailed description of how the prime movers of a case were forced to take responsibility for their actions.
The Dark Web Murders tell the story of a man who seeks retribution for his friend who was wronged. To achieve this, he carefully researches and plans out his strategy for four years. He begins the action of bringing his plan to fruition by serving justice on the guilty parties. He also comes up with a brilliant idea of documenting his actions for others to read; using an online blog. To remain anonymous, he chose to host his blog on the dark web using the moniker Nemein.
Brain O’Hare introduces us to a Judge who as expected, spends most of his time administering Justice. But who doesn’t want extra income? Well, he engaged in a side hustle that involved a business very different from judging people. Through the contacts made from his day job, he got clients for his night job. His side hustle triggered a chain of events that will lead to an act of injustice and a quest for retribution.
Next, we are introduced to Chief Inspector Sheehan and his team. They are in charge of unravelling the murders. The team members consisted of an interesting mix: a divorcee, a dating couple, younger detectives, older and more experienced detectives, a forensic expert and others.
The victims form a very interesting mix: a Judge, a retired teacher, a lawyer, an ex-convict and a dog. This vast mix leaves the police very confused as they struggle to find the connection between the victims. One of the team members stumbles over the murderer’s blog on the Dark web, but the blog provides little information on Nemein’s identity. It instead focuses on the precision, skill and attention to detail that Nemein employs in carrying out these murders.
The police go crazy searching for Nemien but they keep stopping at dead ends. Nemein announces that he is about to carry out his final act of retribution. Through the information posted on his blog, it was deciphered that a member of the team is earmarked to be an instrument used in carrying out the final act of retribution. Will Nemein succeed or will true Justice prevail?
I found the book so engrossing that I could hardly drop it down. A lot of attention was paid to the various characters in the book, bringing them alive and making the reader identify with the story. It made for a very interesting read.
I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars because it was well researched, and the grammar used was excellent. I found no grammatical errors in the book.
This book will appeal most to anyone who loves suspense and Detective fiction.
