I have always been a fan of mystery and suspense stories, both from books and movies. Hence, reading and doing a review for The Dark Web Murders by Brian O’Hare had been an exciting task. Though given the book’s genre, I must mention that there are a few profane words, like on page 18 or on page 258, scattered throughout the book. Whilst some are borderline or can be considered as the language’s slang, just like on page 148, the instances that such words to be used is understandable. It is noted on page 11 that the author is British; thus, the spelling and some common words are U.K.

As I have mentioned my fondness to the police mystery genre, the storyline of the book has really boost my enthusiasm to finish the book. The Dark Web Murders by Brian O’Hare is one of those books that are hard to put down. It surely caused me to skip nap times just to get to the next chapter and so I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars.

I have several reasons why I gave this book a perfect rate. First off, is because I loved the storyline. I loved how the book presented different but oddly related subjects that are both informative and entertaining. Those made the entire story so intriguing, curious and engaging. It started with an immoral intent that led to an unfortunate accident, followed by chapters of morbid deaths and impressive yet unsettling blog posts on the Dark Web. Plus, the spice brought by “The Fulfilment for the Enlightened Club,” these ingredients would make any reader, especially those that love suspense-mystery fans like myself, reach out for this book out of the shelf. However, a word of caution for young readers, there are scenes that are intense and I think they should be supervised when reading this book.

Second, I liked how the author, Brian O’Hare, made me root for the entire team of Chief Inspector Jim Sheehan. He made sure that each member of the Serious Crimes unit is individualized, even with just portions of their different backstories. And that the story did not revolve only to the protagonist but also to the supporting characters. In fact, Detective Malachy McBride has become a personal favorite.

Third, I really appreciate the Introductory Information that can be found on page 7 through 10, and a Glossary that can be found on page 11.I have read a couple of series before and it is rare for the authors to add those mentioned parts. And so, for a first-time reader of The Inspector Sheehan Mysteries, these parts really helped me to be familiar with the characters recurring in the series. Yes, that goes on to saying that I’ll be reading the other books about the famed Inspector.

I may have given the book a perfect rate, however, I wish to indicate that there is an error on page 283. It is when the perpetrator “Richardson” instead of as “Robinson;” a character that has been presented as Patrick Robinson throughout the book. Personally, this is really a minor editing error so I do not think it should affect the rating of the book. But of course, it would be nice to correct it and so avoid confusion.

Overall, I think this book deserves a perfect rate. And a read from every book lover out there that wishes to delve into the human mind’s justice ideologies.
