Percy Jackson & The Sea of Monsters (Book 2), By Rick Riorda

Post by syedalimudassar »

On his return to camp, Percy finds Monsters attacking and the protective barrier destroyed. If the barrier isn't restored soon, the camp and its campers could be lost.

The Sea of Monsters starts with a roar and ends with a surprise that will leave you reaching for the next book. Our understanding of key characters and the world they live in expands
and deepens as the story unfolds. Overall a very enjoyable and clean read that is only further enhanced by some unexpected additions to the cast.

I read the book when the first movie came out, it is my least favorite in the series but still was interesting enough. I honestly think what turned me off about the book was Grover pretending to be a female cyclops and the whole fake wedding and him sewing a wedding dress thing. I just didn't like that storyline. That being said, I just saw the movie the other day and they of course butchered the book just like the first one. I enjoyed the movie as a stand alone and I do get that they have to change things to make the movie flow better, but there really wasn't much from the book that was the same, other than names of characters. Overall I did enjoy it.
