Review by Kemunto lucy -- The Date Farm by Jack Winnick
Acts of terrorism have been there and will always be there. Jack Winnick, the author of this novel, The Date Farm, and the other books in this series has done an outstanding job in giving us a fictitious eye opener on this subject matter. The mystery this time is solved on a date farm. The government designated agents have to go undercover in this farm.
Uri and Lara are at it again. Their relationship has grown so well and this time round they are husband and wife. They are enjoying their vacation at Lara's family home in Ohio when they get the news. We all hoped that the duo could finally succeed in capturing the mastermind of the attacks but that is not the case. There is yet another attack in the Beverly Hill's mall. The terrorists do it the Jihad way this time. They will stop at nothing. Sheikh Zainal has trained them so well and it is almost impossible to track them down. Sheikh Zainal is on an unstoppable mission of vengeance and in pursuit of a valuable piece that neither Uri and Lara nor the police department knows about. Will they ever succeed in capturing him and neutralizing the terrorists? Or is it going to be the end for them?
Being a crime thriller involving tough terrorists, blood shed is expected. A lot of innocent people are killed in America. Iran has spite for America and organizes the deadly attacks leaving crowds lifeless. There are pools of blood and the deaths keep increasing. I, therefore, advice the faint at heart for these kind of themes to keep off.
The mystery in this book is excellent, you can't even bet whether Uri and Lara will come out of this mission alive. Tension is built around events leaving one holding their breath. The author has an amazing way of unfolding the twists while creating the turns. The pacing is fast, and it picks ones attention straight from the beginning to the end. I've read and reviewed, Devil in False Colors and East Wind, 2nd Edition and, the action is still the same, packed to the brim. Jack Winnick is really talented I must say. The characters are really good in what they do and teamwork is evident on Uri's side and also the terrorists' side. I loved the reality in this novel as events and sceneries are brought to life.
All said and done, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I really enjoyed this read to the end. The editing is also professionally done. I recommend it to anyone who loves crime thrillers. Also anyone who's read and loved any book in this series will find this one exciting.
