Review by Dylan921 -- The Date Farm by Jack Winnick
Having just finished reading the The Date Farm was like reading the headline news from the New York Times, but more in-depth. This is the fourth book in a series of four books. I was very happy that this book stands on its own.
While this book is fiction, the author Jack Winnick states that the plot “has strong ties to historical events that are happening more often in the real world. Winnick states “Iran even has a video game: Invasion of Tel Aviv”. So we see just how true this compares with the political ideology espoused by the rulers in Tehran.
This book is a page-turner. You just can’t put it down. There is never a dull moment as the plot thickens from chapter to chapter.
We start in Beverly Hills at a rave concert where 10 masked men open fire at the mall. DNA recovered at the scene of the massacre, where over 100 people were killed, indicate the attackers to be of middle eastern descent.
Subsequently, we are introduced to FBI agent Lara Edmond and her husband , Mossad agent, Uri Levin who were on vacation in Ohio with Lara’s parents.
Uri and Lara then off to the New York financial district. The Department of Defense and Homeland Security have been breached and there has been an attack at the Federal Reserve and Chase Manhattan bank. What are the attackers after?
There are so many characters in this book that you must take notes. Or you need to have a fantastic memory as a person’s name might appear in the beginning of the book yet won’t appear again till the end.
It amazed me how synchronized Lara and Uri are with all the federal agencies. And the locations that are used: Los Angeles, New York City, Nova Scotia, Puerto Rico, Idaho Falls, Kazerun, Incirlik, Turkey and the White House.
I really loved the devotion between Lara and Uri. Their job is to fight terrorism and that’s what they do. They might be married but they are deeply devoted to their jobs. Lara is FBI and Uri is Mossad.
I would love to read books 1-3 and see how Lara and Uri meet. I believe they met ”on the job”. This book is filled with so much action and suspense. I really could not find anything that I disliked about the book, except the cover. You have to read it to figure it out. I found no typographical errors.
I recommend this book to people who enjoy page-turning suspense thrillers. Also I recommend this book for mature readers. I’m happy to rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.
