“In America, race is the key factor in politics, education, and the quality of life. For Black people our minority status limits opportunity. We got to increase the flow so Blacks get mo’.” That statement pretty much summarizes this book. There are two sides of a coin, on one side is the white supremacist spearheaded by Pastor Dalton fighting to retain their power and rule over other races, on the other side is the black people together with the mixed races plotting to get to the top. Kublai Khan believes he can do more for his community as religious leader than by being in the congress. He is on a mission to make America a majority-minority nation.

Together with Reverend Hung Sung Suk they make a pact to create a birthing camp with the purpose to breed mixed babies. Hung's church would bring thousands of women and Kubai's church provides men to help facilitate this plan. Will this plan work? What are the challenges they face in trying to execute this plan?

Mixed blessings is a fictional Novel written by JM Muse. It is a 248-page book and it is written in the third person point of view. It has 45 short chapters. The writer did a very good job with his plot. It was interesting how the different incidences came and got intertwined in the course of the story. Character development was another aspect of this book that is outstanding. The characters are believable and well-developed. It is quite easy to tap into the emotions of most of the characters.

My favorite aspect of this book is how the author used what’s happening in America in terms of Racism to develop a fictional novel. How black kids are stereotyped and racism in the police department. Speaking of racism in the police department, unlike how other writers tackle it with the typical “white cop shooting an unarmed person of color” I really love the way it was tackled a bit differently in this book. There is nothing I disliked about this book.

Race and Religion is strongly represented in this book, Just like in the days of Martin Luther King and Malcolm X whereby religious groupings were used to impact political agendas. Nonreligious people might not really appreciate the book as much as religious people would.

I found this book really mesmerizing. It was well edited and I didn’t encounter any grammatical errors. Therefore, with that in mind I don’t see any need of taking away any stars. I give it a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. Readers who love novels that tackle political issues especially the ones that talk about race will appreciate this story. There’s plenty of profane language used and there’s sex in this book so it's not suitable for young readers.
