This is a review for the book The Date Farm written by Jack Winnick. This is the fourth in his series featuring Laura and Uri as the main characters. I have read snippets of his first three books and this one features the same excitement and action as they seem to have. I enjoyed this story as it features believable scenarios based on today's headlines and political climate.

The story begins with a horrific act of terrorism played out in a public venue. The shock and horror portrayed in this attack is all too similar to many real news stories. The author succinctly imagines an attack that could happen anywhere in the world. The main characters are enjoying a break from their usual activities when they are notified and summoned to help local authorities. What should have been a relaxing visit with family turns into a nightmare when they examine the scope of the attack.

Laura and Uri are both well-trained intelligence officers. Laura began with the FBI and is still technically employed by them. Uri is an agent with a top-level unit within Israel's Mossad. Since their earlier adventures together and subsequent marriage, they both work with Israel, with Laura being "on loan" but still a FBI agent. When they are called in to help with this case, they help to find the answers for it. Within a few days they find out that there has been another, much larger situation in New York City.

Enlisted to help with this new situation, they find themselves in danger and it leads to an adventure that spans from New York to a remote location in Iran. This book captures the intensity and excitement stemming from undercover operations that sometimes go awry. The author is well-informed and uses this information to write a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

The book is well-written and edited professionally. I only came across one error in spacing in reading the book. It did not distract from the story and I was surprised that it was missed. I rate this book a solid 4 out of 4 stars and look forward to more from this author. Readers who enjoy action and adventure, political drama and stories that seem based on fact will want to read this book. I would not recommend this book to younger readers as it has some graphic violence that in this type of story seems unavoidable.

I enjoyed the back stories about Uri and Laura and their previous exploits. It added to the depth of the characters, but I don't feel it necessary to read the earlier books to understand this story.
