Stephen King's "IT"

Post by Sandy4th »

I loved this book. I grew up in a small town where my friends and I rode our bikes around town to the store, baseball field, each other's houses, etc. so I identified with the kids in the book. Plus creatures in the sewers could never really happen, so it was a great scary story. My neighbor knew I was reading a horror book when my house was lit up like a pumpkin in the middle of the night! I rarely re-read books, not much fun when I already know what happens next, but this is one horror book I pick up every few years. Besides the older I get, I'll probably forget more of what happened next, it will be like reading a new book:)

I've never read the book but I've watched the movie and it was pretty scary! I'm almost 20 years old and I can't watch it while I'm alone in the house :P I have a friend who used to be afraid of clowns because of this movie lol

I am a Stephen King fan with reservations. Some of his books are brilliant and some are so-so. When he is on his game, none does the everyday thing/person/situation becoming scary enough to put you under the covers with the all the lights burning. However, some of his books feel like they are just written for the money or hey, it's time for another book. I hate to leave a book unfinished, but some of his I have abandoned. However, IT was one of his classics, loved everything about it while it scared the heck out of me.

The book has parts in it where I read while holding my breath it was so terrifying. Classic King suspense and easily one of his best works, I would advise you to read it. 8)

Yes, I remember reading this book. I was 17 or 18 years old and I was fascinated by the book but it really scared the hell out of me, I started to be scared in real life, I couldn't walk on street drains or sewer drains for a while. Scary book but fascinating.

As a lover of horror books and movies Stephen King is certainly one of my favorite authors. That being said "It" is one of the few that truely scared me. I can't stand clowns.

I remember reading It and it took me a bit to finish it, but I enjoyed it. I saw the movie too.

I couldn't have said it better. Some books, I just love. Others, I don't even think that he put any effort into writing them. One should never write a terrible book just to write a book.

IT scared me. I too will never look at clowns the same.

I was listening to the CBC this morning (I'm Canadian) and they were talking about how the Northampton Clown was inspired by the clown in 'It'.

Definitely Stephen King at his best! I've enjoyed "most" of his books, although they do tend to leave me jumping at every bump in the night!

I picked this book up a a non-profit store for $.79 because of a recommendation to read it. So far I have not read it because I have been lounging with my Kindle, but now I need to go and get it off the shelf. I've never seen the movie so I may need to check that out as well.
